Is anyone here flying the EMB-170 on Sunday (April 4)? I'll be on US 1618 PIT-ALB, which as best as I can tell is the 1st scheduled EMB-170 flight. I'll also be on the return flight US 1617. Should I be expecting anything special?

Where's it out of? PIT? Going to? I'd like to consider doing it...if you have some sked info that would be helpful....

US Airways flight 1618, Pittsburgh to Albany. Leaves PIT at 7:45am and arrives ALB at 9:04am.

Edited to add: it's pricing a V fare at like $325 for the same-day roundtrip (no advance purchase), but inventory is showing the flight wide open if you're looking to non-rev.

All Embraer products SUCK! This airplane will be falling apart in 3 years. They're worse than the Airbus. They do look really nice though.

according to our Embraer rep who told me today in recurrent those E-170's are having software problems....the tubes are blinking bright and dim in places, sometimes one tube and sometimes all at different times for no apparent reason...they're also having rudder problems but he wouldn't elaborate.

typical embrarer product.

I'd bet money they don't revenue on April 4th. Any takers?

All,
I'll be on an ERJ Sunday 4/4 doing PIT-BOS-PIT with a 1730 departure to BOS and a 1940 back to PIT.

"ERJ" is the name for the Embraer regional jet family (135/140/145). Originally, the EMB 170 was to be called the ERJ 170 (you can even get plasic models of it that say that), but before it was produced they changed it to just the Embraer 170 or EMB170, as the family will go up to the 195 which can be configured up to 116 seats... by no means an RJ. They also didnt want potential customers and the traveling public picturing a regional jet as they are selling it as a "mainline" aircraft.

Enjoy the plane! I cant wait to ride on one!

i heard today from some gate agents in pit that the emb170 has a lot of issues, and they are trying really ahrd to work the problems out in time for sunday.

Unless they did some type of ac change it looks like it went!!!

Oh no, that is awful!!!! I've had that sinking feeling before when I've forgotten the time change...

:) Flew non-rev on inaugural EMB170 flt PIT-ALB today. Very impressed with the plane! Flight was great, lots of leg room can even stand fully erect in the aisle instead of hunched over like in the RJ's. Landed in ALB, re-boarded there for the return trip to PIT. The only problem I saw with the plane is that the overhead bins are still small and will not fit a normal size carry-on. Other than that excellent trip! I think UAIR made an excellent choice in this a/c type.
