Another School Massacre

Well South, I am 56 years old and growing up, dad didn't own a gun. He died from cancer at age 75, not from an intruder. Mom died of injuries suffered in a fall, but not from a home invader. I've made it over 40 years on my own and haven't been involved with any altercations involving guns. If I had thought that gun ownership would have let me keep my mom and dad a few years longer, I would have been first in line to purchase an AR15 when they became legal.

Your people have been lucky. Many thousands, just within the USA haven't shared your good fortune. Even then President Andrew jackson once had to personally shoot an intruder in even the White House.

For additional food for thought; read up on the statistics for increased home invasions in England and Australia alone after public disarming took place.

Typical of a self proclaimed libertarian. Throw out petty insults to hide the fact they are full of crap.

You made a blanket assertion about my supposed response to unemployment and social "security". You had no idea of what you spoke. Typical of a mindless and arrogant liberal to have nothing to offer in rebuttal to their "logic" than an infantile nyaah, nyaah. ;)

Here's the funny thing though East...none of my siblings, or cousins...or THEIR families have ever needed a gun to protect the home. Yes there are thousands of folks who DID need a gun...but there are 300 MILLION people living here. Beyond my family, I can't say that I know even ONE person who needed a gun to protect their home.

Typical of someone who listens to too much talk radio. Someone says something they don't like and they call them a "liberal". And unlike you I have never claimed to be liberal, conservative, libertarian etc on this message board.

What's to rebute? If you lose your job you'll run off to the local unemployemnt office to get your money. When you turn 65 you'll sign up for Medicare.

Understood KC, and again....your people have been fortunate. How about we don't disarm those noted " thousands of folks who DID need a gun" though?

You either can't read or just can't think. I've noted myself as a libertarian that equally despises both of the currently ruling political machines, and consider none any "leaders". Anyone who's incapable of even imagining the idea of independant thought of any kind, without such falling into one of your conveniently and appropriately mindless little camps must exceed the limits of your imagination.

You can call your self a bunny rabit for all I care. If it quack like a duck and walks like a duck......

I don't propose disarming anyone. I DO propose getting rid of military weapons in civilian hands. Instead, we rename them something harmless sounding, like "semiautomatic low caliber rifle". How many of those thousands of folks who saved their homes and families used an assault rifle to do it? I would venture to guess that several thousand of those thousands who did were able to protect themselves just by chambering a 12 gauge shotgun....the perps most likely ran beacause of the sound alone.

I don't want to disarm the populace. But I sure as hell wish that gun rights folks would use just a little common sense when it came to the types of weapons that are out there. I wish groups such as the NRA would use some common sense when it came to background checks. They like to proclaim that the problem isn't guns...it's the mental health system. And they are all for stepping up mental health checks. Unless that stepped up mental health exam involves someone buying a gun. THEN it becomes an infringement. The NRA and gun nuts want their cake AND they want to eat it too...POint at the mental healh problems but don't even THINK about trying to apply stricter background checks to buying a gun. Remember...the nutcase that shot Gabby Giffords was able to buy all the guns he wanted, DESPITE mental problems because of a technicality in the law. But we dare not tighten that loophole....lest it infringe on his right to shoot up a rally at a shopping center.

And still offering nothing to help restrict access ro those who should jot have them.

Everyone is a libertarian until they are unemployed, their social security check is late or when time comes to sign up for Medicare.

Are you talking about taking back the money, the government has siezed from "MY" paycheck, for over 30 years now ?
