Another School Massacre

So what's going to stop him from going to the kitchen drawer and getting a knife?

Stop blaming the weapon and start blaming the person!

You are unreal.

A shotgun does way more damage than a knife.

You are really desperate.

School shootings since Newton

Who is desperate?... You're trying to make this out to be "another school massacre".

In Chicago and other cities, kids his age get gunned down on a regular basis due to gang violence.

I guess that's less tragic because it's done off school grounds, eh?...

Great meme, but statistics can be misleading.

The 1996-1997 NFA in Australia introduced strict gun laws, primarily as a reaction to the mass shooting in Port Arthur, Tasmania in 1996 where 35 people were killed.

Using a battery of structural break tests, there is little evidence to suggest that it had any significant effects on firearm homicides and suicides.

In addition, there does not appear to be any substitution effects, specifically that reduced access to firearms may have let those bent on committing homicide or suicide to use alternative methods.

Although gun buybacks appear to be a logical and sensible policy that helps to placate the public’s fears, the evidence so far suggests that in the Australian context, the high expenditure incurred to fund the 1996 gun buyback has not translated into any tangible reductions in terms of firearms deaths.

The article includes a section which provides a brief review of the literature on the effects of the NFA; a section which introduces the time-series data on homicides and suicides used for the empirical analysis, a section which discusses the econometric model and issues regarding model selection, and a section which discusses the structural break tests employed along with the results when used to analyze data.

And yet another blue state.

Has anyone considered that perhaps there's a problem with the lack of values being taught at home, and why this keeps happening in Liberal states and not in places which are a little more centered around faith or family?

Wow. You are joking right?

Did you look at the list in the earlier post? http://www.airlineforums.com/topic/54758-another-school-massacre/page-150#entry1053294

I am sure you have a citation to support you're theory.

Lack of values and parents letting the children do as they wish with little or no supervision.
