Sorry to say, you didn't coin the phrase. Seen it used over and over again. I've often wondered why liberal is such a bad word unless it deals with deserts or gun laws...as in "The liberal gun laws in the US allow pretty much anybody who can spell CAT while being spotted the C and the T to own a weapon"

Sorry...but when talking about "liberal portions", it means you get a lot of food for your money. When it says "sprinkle liberally with salt" it means use a lot of salt. The fact that are gun laws permit us to own so many guns, it means that we have "liberal gun laws". As oxymoronic as that might sound - it's the truth
