According to gov't data the following numbers represent total 2002 O&D passengers for Pittsburgh and two similar type hubs.

Pittsburgh- 5,064,640
Charlotte- 4,073,090
Cincinnati- 3,492,180

using those numbers and the other post citing a population of just over 2.0 million people that means every pittsburgher flew 2 1/2 times ? those numbers quoted i believe reperesent all traffic.

70+% of all UAIR pit traffic is through traffic. thus it can be transited thru any other hub which brings back into focus if PIT chargers 9.00 per pax and CLT 4.00 per pax...... or you could insert any other connecting hub for comparision.

since on the subject of the hub with only 10 gates firmly supported was this the grand MDA plan? 400 rjs? is there any update on that?

Well I know I spent more time on a US plane than I did at home over the last 7 years, so I guess I did a majority of that flying!! Someone has to help keep US flying in PIT!!

Where did these come from, particularly the yield numbers?

Although if they are true, it looks like PHL is worst, and will only continue to trail starting promptly in May.
