"AMP"' level of rEpreSEntaTion....?

It would seem much of the resistance from the TWU supporters is due to their fear of mechanics doing them dirty but I really don't believe that's the case with AMP.

One thing for certain is AMP's Constitution - it is considerably about that of the TWU and failing its execution, there are legal remedies, much as there would be if there were no union at all in place. I like the way AMP's officers will be charged with accountability and the ability of the membership to remove those who go against the intent of the Constitution.

Aside from the obvious learning curve, I simply don't see a downside to union officials being 100% accountable, from the bottom to top, for their actions as they apply to those paying the bills. We have only to look around us now to see the results of there being no accountability.

It's evident the TWU isn't very pleased about this and obviously, as they will lose their greatest partner in crime, neither is the company. Had my arthritis not returned to the left hand, I could play a sad song for both on my fiddle.

So the local has money to build a union hall, ahem....admin building, against the members will but won't spend money for professional blood suckers to fight the compAAny blood suckers? What's wrong with putting the millions of dollars in the locals bank account to good use?

The twu organization is operating in the stone age. Union halls for what a meeting place for the members. How about a pod cast for a meeting or the e-board doing a recorded pod cast so all the members could get involved from there laptops instead of trying to get to the hall either before shift or after shift. Make motions on line vote on line thats how to get members involved. The twu way is outdated and antiquated and is a waste of money especially for the rent on a building that gets used once a month with attendance numbers that are a joke.

No informer, I can't say I ever stooped that low in a case and used the word dumb. I guess I shouldn't have used it here in our conversations...Are we still friends?

You're still not addressing the fact that lawyers have been used in other arbitration cases and should be used in ours....

There have been rare cases that lawyers have been used. Not as counsel or co-counsel for the Union, but as Expert Witnesses. They are used on rare occasions for testimony primarily about external law. You see, an Arbitrator is a creature of the contract and the best way to capture his or her attention pertaining to issues of the contract is through those who work within it presenting the case to him or her......So there you have it my friend. Have a nice day and remain supportive of the TWU who has the tools to work for you....

So if you are trained and so good at arbitration, are you saying you would not work with AMP if they got voted in by the majority of the members. If all you really care about is the members who cares what name is on the door. So there shouldnt be a problem all the brothers and sisters in the know would be right there for the members

I know the IAM usually users a lawyer in arbitration or at least consults one, I know in the major cases the lawyers have presented the case.

Care to offer a dollar value for the AMP crowd so they have and idea of what they will have to mortgage to fund their representation....There sure wont be any funds available from Local 514 because that money will belong to Fleet Service if the AMP gets their way...But that is a future topic of discussion...LOL

The IAM has in-house counsel, and they also use Bob Bush, a very well respected labor lawyer, I dont know his hourly rate, but I would think the union gets a good deal as they use him on all the major arbitrations

Speaking of mortgages, how much is the membership paying for the hall in TUL they didn't want?

Why wait for the future for discussing funds? Let's hear your arguements now.

When we leave the twu we do not bring any funds over to AMP. What is your point? If the twu has so much money why is it not used to fight for their members? As I see it the twu could have the keys to Fort Knox and we would still be looking at unaccountable officers AND concessionary contracts.

Day one AMP will begin increasing their funds and from day one AMP will use those funds to defend our profession. Your argument seems to lend it self that there is some great unknown that will scare the heebee geebees out of us so let's just continue to waste our funds. Now THAT thought calls for laughing out loud.

Besides, AMP already has funds... they have my $116.02 from my Customer Experience Reward. Are you willing to donate your Customer Experience Reward check to the twu?

Side question... who owns the hall? The international, the ATD or the local? If it's the international, then the bus drivers and casino workers are paying for it as well, and will keep paying for it if they lose the AA contract.
