AMFA Mechanics contract.08/ 2012

I see the group giving up that fourth line for $52 hr

I think they will give it up for less than that. Remember the voting majority is just counting the days till retirement and don't care about the long term only the near term. It showed with the 3% 401k match with the AirTran deal

What we can say is that the Company does not desire to start a fourth line of heavy maintenance in house this coming year; however, they also explained that if they could not negotiate to relieve them of their contractual obligation, they would continue the process of starting the fourth line.
Many of us who work the AA 737 heavy's often wonder how WN stacks up against our performance even though our maintenance programs are probably vastly different. We're constantly told we outperform MRO's even with morale in the toilet. Our perception is that you must be doing very well comparatively considering your the best compensated in the passenger airline industry and seemingly work for a company who places high value on it's employees. If our perception is accurate why would management not want a fourth line?

Because they save money by outsourcing. We have 1700 mechanics , wait I am wrong we will have 2100 with AirTran. How many does AA have? How many planes? How many have been laid off? I don't think it would be good to sacrifice that 4th line for pay. Do I want that pay yes !! Do I think people at Swa will vote yes if it came out yes.

We have just over 9300 AMT's which includes A&P's, machinists, OSM's (Overhaul Shop Mechanics), etc...with just over 600 a/c. As you may know there will be layoffs beginning in December running through next year that could total in the thousands. WN will still be way below average per a/c.

I read an article recently that said about 1200 AMT's we planned to be laid off here soon from AA. That sucks brother. I hope the best for them and their families...

It will be very sad if SWA get's their way and unloads the 4th line with a buy-out (bribery). Think of all the scenoirity that will be coming in. Think of all the added position which will allow alot of movement to better positions, better shifts, better days off, better premium positions with added leads, and inspectors, as well as the added head count to alot of the back shops. I know this does not effect any of the out stations as much as it does Dallas, but, this is where we need to all stand together and tell the company to forget about trying to ditch the 4th line. We all need to be on the same page. I think most all of us will agree that more new hires at any location helps protect us all if we had another catastroghic event. More and more scenoirity under our belts is way better than a one time bonus that would be gone tommarrow once we all got it and you all know this. Besides IMO the company will not offer anything of value that the guys would be willing to sell out all their fellow mechs. I am hearing of some numbers that mechs are throwing out there that it would take for them to release the 4th line. This is freakin pathetic. There should be no number. Selling the 4th line back to the company will only prove one thing, SWA mechs only look out for themselves and will sell their fellow mechs down the road for a little cash. Think for the long term future guys, not the imediate future. BTW; The numbers I am hearing are huge, but I don't see the company offering anything substantual.
Seems like the company is always coming after something from us in order for us to get a raise. It's time for us to get what we deserve from the outsourcing to elsolvador and the multi millions upon millions they are saving each and every single year that we allow it to happen. This 4th line was agreed to by the company as one of the exchanges for our Elsolvador deal. THEREFORE, I say, the company wants to rid of the 4th line, then bring all 4 lines of maint out of Elsolvador into USA---PERIOD!!! I bet none of you out there thought about that did you?? There is no number for me that would allow for them to rid of the 4th line. C'mon people, there are folks that have been waiting for years to see this 4th line come in. I also think if we were to allow the company to steal the 4th line back, then it wouldn't be long before Hirshy goes after the 3 other lines of maint. Look at what he did at Alaska guys. This needs to stop and stop it now, otherwise you guys will see SWA looking as a mirror image the way AirTran was running it's maint. which was nothing from "C" Check and above. PLS guys thing long and hard before you allow a few grand change your minds, then after you blow the bonus you say, never should have done that. The 4th line will last forever (per sae) the bonus (for some) will last 5 min.
And for all you guys living on OT to pay your bills and living barely check to check--too bad, keep doing all the OT you need, don't sell out your fellow mechs because you lost control of you finances, it's not our damn fault. For all you old timers fixin to leave anyway (5-10 years) PLS don't fall for the money as well. I know it will look very entising for you guys looking to go soon, but it would be detramental to all of us who will be hear for years to come. Sorry this ended up being so long, but I think it is just pathetic that some on the floor are already saying, "well, if they were to offer me $______ I would take it. Very sad indeed we got some greedy sob's here at SWA. I would like to know if others feel the same way. I could see this turning into future buy-outs for other lines of maint. If this 4th line goes away (along with the contract language) we will NEVER EVER get it back. Think about future gentlemen not your wallets...

Wait, What about the culture...Avtech talked to one person and now knows everything,,About SWA, about the Cutlure,,AV is your man, I cant believe that he isnt Already Negotiating for SWA and saving you guys from this., he may of have an SWA ID just old enough for the ink to dry but he Does seem to Know everything and he has no problem Telling SWA people what to do,,,

Does this sound Like a Company trying to Save a Culture or save Money at the cost of Jobs, Carreers and Families???

Could this be the Pennies Before People program now being instituted... that Program that is coming From the Top????

Another thing if the 4Th line goes then say goodbye to your overtime. The overtime will be gone also. The reason why is with no 4th line they will have all these extra guys that have been hired so far for the 4th line. You may think that it won't effect me cause I'm not in Dallas but your wrong! Some day something may happen and you need to go to Dallas. Or mechanics will transfer to other stations that may have the OT. Or in the event of a lay off the 4th line will add more mechanics below you. Just remember before you sell outs sell us all out of a job! This was not intended directly towards anyone but is just something to think about!

Buscador please move your stupid Arss crap talk to the correct thread!! This is about our contract and not your rant about SWA culture!!!!

I must agree with you Swadl. Overtime will be adjusted accordingly if the 4th line is not to remain.
Ialso agree with you telling Bus to get out of our contract talks.
Bus, the integration stuff is done and overwith, you may leave from these convo's....
