AMFA Mechanics contract.08/ 2012

I found my seat shop guy!!!!! I am sure our entry level wages are not far from AA top out. I see you are a 20 plus mechanic at AA , Goodluck to you. Hope I don't interview when time comes to that. And btw blogging and grammar/spelling don't go hand in hand as I am quickly responding on my iPhone. Sorry I am more concerned with content :) but thanks for the writing/English lesson.
You SWA guys are a little touchy. Not a seat shop guy. Engine overhaul. Dayshift for 19 of my 23 years. How about you topout king? Midnights on the line. I did that for 3 years at AA. Enjoy it.
I interviewed and was offered a job at at SWA at HOU in Dec of 88 but took a job elsewhere and then at AA 9 months later. I saved you a spot. You owe me.

You earn your time unless there is a law that keeps you from going to the bottom of the list. Still those guys are 0 time until they get years under there belt at Swa or what ever company they are at.
I know many AA mechanics that are salivating at a chance to work for WN with no complaints about starting at the bottom. It certainly beats the alternative of staying at AA.

I guess I owe you too then.
Thanks.

BTW was a mechanic on your hiring panel back then?

On another note, the guys hired in in 1988 all have at least a million in their 401k/ profit sharing accounts.

Nope, just one on one with the director of maintenance. I want to say his name was Dale Morrow? The hangar was brand new and no one was even working in it yet.
I have kicked myself a time or two over the years but all has worked out well enough. Good luck to you guys. I hope y'all can avoid the BK route.
A million? Really? Cmon.............

I think you made the wrong choice back in 88 ,just sayin Lolol. The future over there does not look to good and I hope you retain your job over there. Like my fellow Swa Colleague said I could be part of that panel that interviews. If memory serves me correct AA is not very liked over here. That's not to say we have not hired AA guys. Iactually think we just hired a guy from AA with 20 years who worked in tulsa. It does happen.
Best of luck to you and no I am not on Ron

No regrets on my part. I'm going to ride this out. I'm not sure why AA employees wouldn't be liked there but f you are ever in a position to interview them then have an open mind. We have some great mechanics that would love a chance to work in the environment y'all have there and of course at that pay scale. Good experience at a starting wage :)
Really.
Unless they are divorced.
Yeah that's a MFer......

I have heard we have some AA guys in the hiring pool. I hope they make it. We need some new blood with experience.

Correction,
In the interview pool. I don't know if any passed the interview and test.

I know of 2 mechs and 2 supv hired at SWA in the past 6 months from AFW. All are good at what they do so the system must be working.

If they come over with great attitudes and willing to go back to graveyards/eves I'm all for it. We need some real experience to offset the non hiring for so many years except the new apprentice grads. And just so you know there are many mechanics at SWA with less than 1 year that have a piece of the weekend on graves. And a few that are on eves with mid week days off. I personally think that is good.. But to think any of you deserve the right to retain your seniority from another airline is abserd and just wrong!!

And btw IV been on that hiring interviewing panel in the past. So yes your fellow mechanics may be on that interview panel. And in the past a few mechanics in the old days just met the DOM and was hired directly from him, with no real interview panel. Things have changed compared to old days.

it wasn't about ME doing anything. My original post followed a post by AMFAINMIAMI where he brought up the idea of having one union for all mechanics and keeping seniority when moving between airlines. Other industries do this but obviously we do not and being at SWA and not experiencing layoffs or liquidation the idea is not something you are open to. This was part of a broader topic of unifying mechanics to try and stop what is happening to us. Aviation is a cycle. One day you are at the top, one day you are at the bottom. Good luck with your negotiations.
