AMFA at UAL

The IAM is it''s own worst ememy, AGC''s get in office and are rarely voted out, no matter who runs against the "slate". AMFA just took advantage of all the IAM mistakes over the past years. But I do worry about the pension, is it an IAM Pension..? To lose MTC to AMFA, would be a "deathblow" to Fleet Service, but I can understand the hate for the IAM and I can''t feel sorry for what may happen to that organization if AMFA gets USAirways
But all unions have there problems and I''m sure AMFA has it''s share

As I am told...
Did you know that an AGC has never been elected to their first term in office? They have always been appointed then re-elected afterwards. With the current system is to hard to weed out the bad. It is a good old boy thing and not about what is good for the members, but what is good for the 'union business' and a few 'select players'.

All I have to say is NWA during IAM 9,000 Mechanics.
NWA with AMFA, 4,000 Mechanics, 44% farmout, 38% is the limit, ATL closed, AFMA has done nothing for its members at NWA except lose jobs, done thing at WN to get them more work, forced binding arbitration on its Alaksa members.

I don''t know where you get the information in regard to NWA recalling, they are laying off more.

CHICAGO, June 18 (Reuters) - Northwest Airlines Corp. (NasdaqNM:NWAC - News) said on Wednesday that it will lay off 150 mechanics because the pneumonia-like virus SARS has crushed Pacific demand and forced the airline to park many of its large jets.
In March, Northwest said it expected to cut 4,900 jobs, or 11 percent of its work force, because of the war in Iraq, including about 2,000 mechanics. The mechanics layoffs because of the war turned out to total 1,685.

7300 mechanics, 9000 total members, about 4000 mechanics current, recalls have started at NWA. Don''t forget to mention all the work AMFA has allowed to be farmed out at UAL and the work AMFA has allowed UAL to send overseas, same as everyone gives AMFA credit for farming out work at NWA that started pre-1998. Keep thinking freely, just like the IAM did at Alaska, NWA and UAL, where the representational elections could have been won by anyone running against the IAM.

Thank you for the input. That is the problem with the usair iam diehards, they think they know everything that goes on at all airlines. Most of them read the LIES at the iam websites. They are shaking in their shorts that the AMFA raiders (as they call them) will be here at usairways soon. Well given the actions of the iam beginning with the revote they will deserve everything they get. Let the scare tactics begin, we are accustomed to hearing the LIES and they won''t faze many this time around. BYE BYE iam at Usairways! Does anyone have any info on the time and date of our first AMFA informational meetings? Serving burgers? Thats the very problem with all of yous guys who would vote for anything and accept anything the iam and company would throw out there.
