American Airlines creditors want to talk merger

US treats it's employees like a person, really? It seems that most, if not all, of the US employees on the US board would take issue with that statement; especially those US rampers who claimed that US would not even provide them with access to water over the summer. AA, on the otherhand, has provided us with plenty of water in addition to a roving cart that goes gate to gate providing gatorade to all its ramp personell during the summer months.

The few dozen who post on the US board are hardly representative of the 30000+ employees at US Airways who have never even heard of this website. So, for the little that my opinion's worth, let me say that I am treated as a person, I make a pretty good living at it, and have never seen anyone wanting for water or gatorade, which is provided by the company.

Thank You for backing me up. A few Arrogant people think we make pennies and the company is cheap with Gatorade. A lot of people on this board think of US Airways 10 years ago. They don't realize it's a New US Airways since the merger. US mechanics make a descent salary. I dont think 32.50 an hour is pennies and yes we have a union pension and we pay a lot less for Health benefits than AA employees pay and we go to 33.50 in July and were in contract negotiations and were looking to do better than United just did.I worked at AA from 2001 to 2002 and it's no bargain and keep your Gatorade and keep your AArogance.

Other than a couple of freight carriers most peopla have never heard of, The USAirways pilots are dead last in compensation. The HP rates fare a good bit better. Have a look at the regionals.... LCC is dead last among operators of the larger embraers. Thats right, the regionals!

The numbers don't lie. They are good people that have had a lot of bad things happen to them. It's too bad they've taken the postion they have regarding the Nic award, because they're screwing themselves now.

Exactly. US East pilots are paid less than jetBlue pilots on comparable equipment. Of course, if the pilots weren't cutting off their noses to spite their faces, the profits that some US employees are so proud of would be much smaller or nonexistent. Another example: AA's MD-80 captains are paid higher hourly rates than US A330 captains. That's right - the highest hourly captain rate at US is less than AA's lowest hourly captain rate.

Overall, AA's labor costs are more than $2.0 billion more per year than they would be if AA enjoyed the contracts and labor costs at US. Put another way, AA would be very profitable if AA paid the same wages as US. The AA 1113 proposals would result in AA still having higher labor costs than US.

It sounds to me AA pilots are overpaid and this could be a reason for bankruptcy. 2 billion more a year is ridiculous.

Although AA's pilot hourly rates were better than post-bankruptcy UA, DL, NW or US rates, the DL pilots have obtained increases that now surpass AA's rates. The UA/CO pilots will similarly catch up to AA's rates. Although AA is trying to cleverly push down rates a little with its pay banding proposal, its term sheet rates are still much higher than US rates.

So are AA pilots overpaid or are US pilots underpaid? With DL and UA rates close or higher than AA's rates, it looks to me like US pilots are underpaid. Captain Sully landed his A320 in the Hudson and made just $125/hr for his efforts. That is just slightly above AA's first officer rates.

cactus not sure why you are so bitter. its real simple you have a job that's good you don't have a job that's bad.whats happening at AA happened at every carrier so far, now its our turn. us scare did it twice and it will probably happen again. soon it will be southwest's turn. as far as us scare couldn't care less if they paid for Gatorade or not, if they give you water or not. im concerned about things at AA just like the thousands of employees at united, delta,Continental, northwest and us scare were, which by the way the ones that got forced out may not be wearing the rosy glasses that you do .as far as tway i hold no animosity towards them lot of good people and bad no more no less than the rest of the industry. fact of the matter is that the purchase of tway was a bad decision by aa but sh*t happens and its done. just like the ta, people can cry all the want its done move on.in my experience when people are as bitter as you and they try to throw out how good they got it, well you get the idea green eyed jealousy just remember when you were in high school not every one was good enough to get picked for the varsity team....... just curious but are you a welder at us scare?

Anticipating a smooth restructuring, why would they? They see no imminent or probable danger to their interests either. They did use the terms "For the time being, it's not on the table".

Boy, how would a certain pilot spin THAT?? :D :D
