Weren’t Continental and United also Unionized? Did you know or even care what Unions any of these Carriers had? And if you didn’t like the deal you got or took on at AA you I’m sure could have gotten into one of those other carriers or maybe even be working for SWA today.
No you’re looking back in hindsight with regrets. Your regrets are that you should have had a crystal ball to see the future and if you had that crystal ball it would have led you to try to get in at UPS or FEDEX and work in Louisville or Memphis because the only focus you would have would be where can you get paid the most.
Or do you like where you live and don’t want to live anywhere else?
“If they don’t like it they can always move”
I look back on past negotiations because I like to learn from past contract negotiations mistakes, and not repeat them.
What I hear coming from the Association hasn't deviated at all from past union updates.
It's as if there is a script our negotiators follow.
Most of us; by now could, could write the monthly contract negotiation updates. Oh boy, another solid day and a half of talks, yada yada. Catcha next month. Oh , and always - we feel your pain, and appreciate your support - dog gone it.
I would like some transparency. Negotiations history for us hasn't been good. I don't trust the company, they want the most productivity for the least amount of pay. The union, well now, I know that we hope they have our best interests in mind, but their past actions have shown quite the opposite.
If history is any indicator, we should look for a the usual chain of events to get to a TA.
It will end up that "we couldn't quite get all your pay and benefits restored, but we maintained future headcount - the company promised".
We will be reminded that we voted for it. It somehow will magically pass by 6 votes with a controversy.
Six months after the TA, the company will declare BK or Force Majeure, and poof, the promised heads are riffed.
I called it.
