I

have read several times and realize I will lose my pension in this contract. I will lose it from the union not the company. The pension will go into default again. The medical will be lost because the TWU members don’t care about saving $3.50 an hour by going to the IAM current insurance. I have lost a lot of money from waiting this long for a vote on the companies offer. I have not seen one Union business agent come to my city and show me what our contract looks like.
You are correct on most items. The medical is something that could have been won or at least a cost rein in. Unfortunatley the iam took a wait and see attitude and let the twu run off on their own with no support or back up. Showing a clear divide the company exploited. Our fight was never their fight. When should their fight become ours? I can debate this all day, but when have you seen the iam leadership confront parker or isom at thr quarterly meetings? Or at least make their presence known?

I would love to save $3.50 an hour on medical again the iam's lack of support for anything the first 3 years is now coming back to haunt them. The iam has neglected to show up in dfw and iah for their guys.

Without LAA bailing out LUS you would have lost everything.

It isn't the TWU Members don't care, it's that we realize the Company will not open medical to another option now that they have everyone in the same plans.

It isn't just offering the medical to the TWU, but they would then have to deal with the APA, APFA and the CWA-IBT Association in upgrading their plans.

One of their goals in BK was to get everyone in one plan. They won't deviate from that now that they only have one group to go.

At a certain point, it makes little sense to keep holding onto that because the raise you'll forgo would be more than what you're saving in the medical. Time isn't on your side.

Waiting is a good protection for the short term, but it isn't an good option for the long term.

Why would the group that was getting most of their language TA'd go out and protest? The whole thing was a sham to make is feel there was a fight found on. Once you see the language that survived, just check the TA's, you'll see why the IAM has been quiet. (Until now)

I agree 100% when you have it all and manage to keep it why rock the boat? Until of course your sacred cows are led to the altar. Then its an issue. Up to then why bother? Its all going our way....until

A very short sighted, self serving strategy.

LAA did not bail out LUS. LAA was in CH11. LUS brought LAA n took them.out of ch11. DP went behind our backs to garner support from LAA unions n it was a success while we waited n waited for contract

LUS didn't take LAA out of BK, it was Chapter 11 not Chapter 7.

It was a merger, not a purchase.
