Al Gore

Are you willing to bet your future that we are not helping it along? Would it not be wise to hedge our bets and do everything humanly possible to curb our effect on the planet? Not like there is a easy button or a do over. We get one shot. If we phuck it up, it's game over.

Thirty years ago science declared we were entering into a 'New Ice Age'

We should certainly care for the planet, but I have to question the true motive of the Al Gores's of this world who are spearheading change.

Kinda reminds me of the drunk, who tells his kids not to drink!

It may be hypocritical of the drunk but it is still sound advise.

Just because the scientists were wrong before does not mean they are wrong again. They may be wrong but are we willing to take that chance? There is no second chance if they are right.

Why is there no second chance?
The sun will still rise in the east and set in the west.
Nothing will happen on this planet that has not happened before.
For a group of scientists to declare that this climate we experience now is the way it is always supposed to be for ever and ever is a ludicrous assertion in the least.
It never ever has been stable in the 4.5 Billion years of time.
Its about continual change and rebirth....

I'd be inclined to put my concern towards our Muslim brothers of the world and what they have planned for their Christian infidels globally.
I'd be inclined to study prophesy more seriously and relate that towards daily world events.(includes Russia,Iran,China,Paki's etc, etc.)
I'd focus all my energy to the closing of Gitmo and taking those poor misguided individuals incarcerated there and bring them into the homes of Nancy and Harry,Ted and Johnny and let them reconnect with their long lost misguided ways from society.

There is no second chance because if we keep depleting the rain forests that provide our oxygen, if we alter the water temperature to the degree that its capability to produce oxygen is reduced or eliminated, if we keep putting toxins in to the atmosphere that reduce it's ability to protect the earth, if we keep laying down more and more concrete over what little green areas remain, if we keep pumping more and more pollutants in to the air and ocean, the earth may not be able to sustain life as we know it. And while it will in all likely hood be able to recover after a few millennium, we may not be around to enjoy the recovery. Science has shown that a change of only a few degrees could have a huge affect on life and the ability of the planet to sustain life. Should that happen, your terrorist friends will be the least of our concerns.

Anything short of a massive die off, which btw is a real possibility will continue to impact the earth negatively. Natural resources are being depleted at an alarming rate in the oceans and on land. The notion that we can alter things in such a way to slow/stop global cooling/warming is unprovable. Changes are occuring just as they always have and in fact while many are saying global warming others are saying the opposite. there are many things that factor into the earths changing climate and co2 is just one. there are factors much bigger than mankind at work here!

Sounds like you advocate much like the Muslims do....going back to the stone age.

Gar....Phuckkitt ....its way too late.

All you fear and complain about has a common denominator and that is greed and money.

Worry about the frozen methane sea ice off Arnolds place thats bubbling up at record rates.GW is the supposed cause but the Legendary Research Scientist and Realist,DELLDUDE knows its melting from the volcanic activity beneath the area.If a massive release were to happen and induce enough methane at the right moment plus a few cow farts for flavor...and with the correct fuel/air ratio.......viola....poof no more atmosphere.
Can you imagine the vacuum produced by some 6.6 billion people on earth sucking for air all at once?
Man does that suck....

Volcanic activity is what caused the last mini-ice age too. All it takes is 3 major volcano eruptions within a short time span (say 25 years) and the particles will cover our atmosphere and block a major portion of the sun's heat, thereby making it frickin' cold in Chicago.

Sounds like we better find a way to cap those pesky Volcanos!

No dell, I advocate the full use of technology. Computers are what allow the V8 in a Magnum to operate far more efficiently than a similar size V8 from 30 years ago. Technology is what is going to save this planet along with proper stewardship.

Yes I agree with you that money is the prime culprit of our lack of progress.

Your methane thing sounds similar to what happened in the African city near the lake. There was a seismic disturbance (IIRC) that disturbed the lake bed and everything in a 100 mile radius (give or take) was dead.

Yes there are natural disasters that could take us all out. I agree and there is not a damn thing that we can do about it. All I am saying is that even though I may get hit by a truck tomorrow, I am still going to try and take care of my self as well as I can on the out side chance that I actually make it past tomorrow.

We get one planet at least for now. We need to be very careful with our actions because the more damage we do the more we place our selves at risk.

I've been talking about this gw for years. Of course there IS Global Warming, but MAN IS NOT THE CAUSE NOR DOES HE CONTRIBUTE THAT MUCH TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO IT!

The only way he contributes is by feeding the animals and making them as lazy as he is. Case in point: Geese that should be heading south, just hang out because Stupidman feeds them! They are a nuisance because cars have to break as they decide to cross the busy highway. At airports, people feed birds to the point that operations comes out with rockets and whistles because planes can't take-off or land. When ducks look for humans because their ducklings are stuck in a drain pipes, you know that man is nothing but a tool for nature and petards!

That's just one aspect.

Let's say, for the sake of arguement, that MAN is at total fault for global warming, and YOU truly believe it. Why are you working in the airline industry? I say planes and jets are the main culprits to global warming. Let's talk about the clean air jet fuel causes. Why don't NASA scientists give us the figures reguarding shuttle launches and other 'clean' global warming fuels? It would seem hypocritical to target certain causes and conveniently leave out others. The causes they target become less efficient and cost us more in the long run. Did it ever occur to people that in the long run, your cause costs peoples' jobs and is why most industries move to China where pollution is common? Remember that a scientist that endorses gw isn't going to want to lose that billion dollar grant to prove his point.

I've known about GW since the late 70s because of something I discovered in the 60s, believe it or not. (Bear with me because as a child it may have not occurred to me that it was going to be hyped up to global warming). I liked keeping reptiles as pets. The closest lizard in a Peterson guide was southern PA. In the early 80s the same lizard reached Dutchess county, NY, according to a newer revised guide. If you know reptiles, this indicated that we were getting warmer.

Mother Earth is great at regulating itself, without man's help, thank-you very much! Problem is it takes years to do so. In the 60s and 70s we feared an ice age. If you think about it global warming is summer and the ice age is winter. Oh summers are hotter, it's my fault. Oh winters are colder, it's my fault. Give me a break!

Remember the tsunami of 2004? I believe that is still influencing our climate. Al Gore probably mentions gw and the rising temperatures, but can't remember a 2-4 degree F. drop in the earth's temperature. He forgets about killing frosts in summer and how for years it played havok with the world's food supply. I'll supply the info, you research what occurred(remember these had a GLOBAL impact, if you research correctly), and prove that Gore the Bore is hot air...

Mount Tambora

krakatoa

Global Warming my butt

Mt St Helen

One more note:Humans can naturally adapt to the changing weather condition. Those who can't are meant to be extinct according to the natural order of things. Too hot, use an ac. Too cold, turn on the heat. I dream of the day that NY weather is bright and sunny and in the 80s year round!

Clarification: "...but can't remember a 2-4 degree F. drop in the earth's temperature."

Forgot to write: During the 1800s! This drop occured in a little over 60 years.

Nice post there Signals....

Those pesky geese.....you are correct to the extent as to why they don't leave....also another factor is they can tolerate the milder winters as of late too.And when they get to be too much a problem, well we'll just poison them discretely at North Park.

One thing I like to mention as to Man and GW....

Calculate to some approximation the total thermal signature put out by mankind via autos, factories, etc.

Calculate the total volume of earth's oceans.....

Now figure out how many BTU's it would take to raise that volume of ocean one degree and see where mankind's input falls and get back to me about man causing GW.
