One thing I want you to remember when it comes to Tulsa. Our work is being outsourced. You know as line guys that anything AA flies you will be working on. We have even now seen where the light C's we used to do are now done as phase checks on the line. Also there is a reason Tulsa does not have a high cost of living and to put it bluntly it is because it basically sucks to live here. I stayed because my wife's family was here and her parents were getting old and she was the only one around to watch out for them. And you are right in that it was a personal decision and I made it and will live with it obviously. But for years line guys on the message boards pointed to Tulsa having weekends off. Now a lot do not so now we bring up cost of living. There seems to always be something to point at to say that Tulsa has it so much better than everyone else. How is the school system where you are? Oklahoma is among the lowest in money spent on education in the country. How about access to health care where you are? Did you know that acceptable fees for medical treatment in Tulsa are compared to rural Arkansas to determine what will be allowable? This results in more out of pocket costs for us. Do you have sales taxes where you are? In OK food and clothes have sales tax added at the register and those sales taxes are among the highest in the country. Do you have state income tax? We do here in OK. So maybe you can see that the cost of living isn't so much better here than what you thought. You probably pay more property taxes but I pay more taxes in general and with no state income tax (If you are in DFW) you have much more take home pay than I do. There is more to cost of living than what a house would cost you. The point is that DFW is not and will not be considered a high cost of living area. Places on both coasts will be though and rightfully so. Are you prepared to not get GEO pay so those areas can get it? Or do you think everywhere but Tulsa should get it? I would hope not.Agree on the 7 day coverage but Tulsa is still much more affordable than most if not all line stations. I'll take 7 day coverage over being displaced to a line station with a high cost of living. Bottom line is we have to make personal decisions that best fits our family needs.
Then I stand corrected on ORD. I thought it was the local president at the time who spoke out against it.ORD didn't go against GEO pay. That was. DFW shoot down, as they are considered a low cost of living area.
I wish everybody was like oldguy in Tulsa. Unfortunately there was the guy (and all the other mechs clapping) suggesting to take away from PIT and give to Tulsa.
We just have to trust our negotiation team to get the best deal possible.

Wholly Crap. WoW. You are SPOT ON. I thought I was the only mechanic to see the light. I hope all the LUS/LAA mechanics WAKE UP. We are DOOMED if WE DONT. This contract is way more complicated than the UAL/CAL contract. It took them 5 years. It will take us 10 years. Were better off getting off our asses and voting in a different union and starting from scratch.
The info came from our then local President, DFW and Mia were against it. Tulsa was ok with GEO pay.
Since we lost all the maint locals it'll be impossible to get that info.
DFW is an easy target, as they like to work out deals where they protect themselves, while losing work to Mia and GRU. How great would it be if DFW mechs were working like Miami mechs, and AA was bringing work to DFW, then all the displaced Texas mechs could go home or leave their jobs on the ramp and be mechs again, or even upgrade from OSM to mechanic.
Building new hgr bays at ORD to replace our hgr 2 and Miami looking for hgr space all the while DFW losing overnight work to DWH. I'm sure it's all the managements fault.
Thanks to GP for clearing up false rumors.
Honestly I was about ten feet away from that moron but I couldn't tell what he said due to the really bad acoustics. I think a lot of people found out when the video came out. I can tell you all I heard was "Bring it back to Tulsa." and I'm guessing that is what most heard. I heard that guy caught a lot of grief for that statement and rightfully so.ORD didn't go against GEO pay. That was. DFW shoot down, as they are considered a low cost of living area.

I remember when it happened and DFW did vote against it. Tulsa voted for it. No way to prove it but I would suggest you ask Peterson. I've heard he's a stand up guy and I would be surprised if he didn't admit he voted no. Tulsa is guilty of many things but not this one. On another note I am wondering what the dislikes were for on my previous post. Is it that someone thinks everywhere except Tulsa should get GEO pay or was it the fact that Tulsa sucks to live in? Just curious. I was responding to 1AA who I think is in DFW. My intent was to show that maybe Tulsa is not as cheap to live as someone might think and also to show maybe DFW isn't as expensive as someone would think either. Of course housing is more costly in the DFW area but there are advantages too. There are really no advantages to living in Tulsa now that the weekends are work days.you are always bad mouthing dfw show proof
This is a he said she said and of course the person you spoke with said it wasnt him it was the other guys.
We can still find out, the locals may be gone but the guys are still around. So if you'd like to let us know who it is, some of the guys on here will ask them.
Also, i get the idea of Geo pay but if we are looking to make things all equal does the guy in San Diego get docked because the weather is nicer there? Its not fair that a guy in NY has to work in the cold and someone else in PHX has to work in the heat.
Should there be an extra amount of pay for stations that take longer to get off of nights and cant get weekends off?
Punch in some cities and compare Tulsa to some of the expensive line stations.
