Aircraft maint issues

I want everyone on here, that I worked for airlines for 40 years.
I assume you meant to say that you wanted everyone on here to know you worked for airlines for 40 years.

Tell me, in your opinion how much has the airline business declined?

Do you think airline mechanics would have been better off without the UNIONs?

How much buying power have you lost in 40 years?

How are the benefits today compared to yesteryear?

Is the workload lighter or heavier now then when you started?

I’ve personally paid close to $18k in union dues only to be the lowest paid union mechanics behind non union mechs.

I’ve lost out on field trips and OT because Mechs that were trying for grievances to get paid without working were hiding in their car, so they couldn’t be found so manager cancelled OT.

So pretty much no progress again folks. Maybe next year sometime.

Negotiations continued at the National Mediation Board offices in Washington, DC this week. Some progress on issues other than Scope, Retirement, Healthcare and Wages was made. Your Executive Negotiators remain committed to achieving the best contract in the industry.

The Mediators scheduled additional dates at the Mediation Board offices October 8 through October 10. We are hopeful progress continues and increases at the next meeting.

October is almost here then comes Thanksgiving and the rest of the holiday season that pretty much the government goes onto vacation mode. Another year of a lost vacation week. Just one of many things that could have been settled before the year ends.
