Aircraft maint issues

What's at fault here is the FAA rest requirement.

I disagree with you buck. What we have is a membership divided and every station protecting themselves. That is the fault of the union, Tulsa’s if you don’t like it move to Tulsa to what the TWU did to the AFW guys.

Disbanding our locals to forming the association, all without input from memberships input.

Now we are fighting to protect shifts, there’s no garentee anything in airline industry, except seniority but that doesn’t matter with the TWU as far as bumping during layoffs.

Hope you are feeling better buck.

Yes, thanks I have a deficient immune system due to the lack of full kidney function so when I get a cold, it drags me down like the flu without the stomach problems.

The "Rest Period" I am referring too is the requirement of mechanics to have four days off in a month which is an FAA requirement.
However, there is no rule as to when this is enforced. You could take one day off in a week or four days at the end of the month.

The Union Reps are only mentioning losing the ability to move up and gain better shifts and seniority because they know if they say what it’s really about the IGM crowd will scream bloody murder.

What it’s about is saving good jobs for the future. These Unions have been around since the late 1800’s and early 1930’s.

The IAM organized US AMT’s in 1949 and
The TWU organized AA AMT’s in 1947

If Negotiators back then had out of the gate sold out the future for Gold coins, by the time your year came to hire in there probably wouldn’t be a job available for you at the Airline and those Unions would be out of Business at the new AA.

Good paying JOBS is what a Union is all about. Unions are NOT supposed to sell out the future to satisfy the greed of the present.

Thanks, I have been ill since before 2005 but something else is going on from the Army I think. 1978 thanks to Monsanto.
Kidney Failure, Both Shoulder and Hip replacements medicines rotted my teeth out, I got Implants, $50,000 ( time to sit down with the tax man )
But I bought myself new Lenses for my eyes, $8000, that was on me and Overtime.
Trying to find a way to take non-THC CBD Oil if the FAA will allow it. 2-3 more years of the hardest job in the world.

Listen all kidding aside. I know I’ve razzed you here a time or two but I genuinely think you’re an alright guy and I don’t like hearing bad crap sitting on an alright guy.

I do wish you the best and when the time comes I hope you have the best retirement you can.

SWA COO just put out a statement of AMFA a handful of mechanics grounding aircraft in 4 of our 20 maintenance stations, and now the emergency has spread to Dallas, and mentioned the history of AMFA and their disruptions. This started right after our Feb 12th mediation meeting. So regardless of Swampy saying compliance, SWA considers this a job action, and I am sure an injunction will be filed against AMFA in federal court. Like I said Weazz I hope AMFA has deep pockets. Tell me Weazz what did the American Airlines pilots sick out over the Reno Air situation cost the pilots group?

You do know that at the end of the day driver you are AMFA even if you wish you had a different representative. They could be trying to break your Union which is not something that any Airline worker should support.

I do don't want to lose my license. But you can't complain about the new reality, and then suddenly we are compliant.
Then follow the books and material, that's all, and you won't lose your licence.
I'm not complaining, the company is.

Our last mediated negotiations were held on Feb. 7th and 8th. Get your facts straight.

From the time I started at AA, management and training has never said just get it done, you follow the AMM. You will never have a problem doing the job the correct way. The only difference for most mechanics from then and when the IAW program started is, you have to write the AMM reference in the signoff.

I agree with 737 driver, you invited the FAA to look over your shoulder and to scrutinize your paperwork. This should not be a problem for any of us. You want $64 an hour, there has to be a high level of professionalism.
I agree with you. And it's not a problem with me at all.

Really? What statement?? Can you post it please??? I got nothing, only another letter from L.W. about the Operational emergency, please share...
BTW why aren't you writing this in the SWA threads???

Then you guys are ahead of the game, and I congratulate your maintenance department. We are good, but we used to sign the log books off IAW AMM, with the code with a two digit ref. Then we actually needed a six digit ref. We had all done things hundreds of times from a tire change, to changing hydraulic filters, to oil or changing an O 2 bottle. We all know as mechanics how to do our jobs. However when our contracts get tough, we also know to work more diligent.
Really? I work IAW year round. Contract talks or no contract talks, It's MY licence and nobody else, period...
