Aircraft maint issues

One thing I will say.....We have learned more about negotiations this past week than in the last 2 1/2 years!
Stay tuned for the union's response to the Jetnet videos.
Same as us. Seems things are moving. But don't let that fool ya. The brick wall is coming soon.

It’s my understanding that the Association or Executive Council have to be unanimous before it is presented for a vote. Is this correct?
Yes. But read the next post. The exect. cmte could very well override that decision.

And Maintenance people love to troll Fleet pages too. So what’s your point?

And you do the same and is why some of us has come to your thread of fleet boys. Now you know why. You were the first instagator for this and you still wonder why??? Get a clue as you never have weez, and never will.

My perception of this proposal is, this is the highest contract in the industry, but since we have thousands more AMTs auto mechs and facility mechs this looks less as it is spread out over a wider group.

AA wants to offer buy out for 15 year plus mechs to bring down head count with most expensive employees and to buy their vote. Another case of guys voting yes for a contract they don’t have to work under.

The union wants everything in the contract to be the best and keep the headcount. I say buyout should come before the contract and then we get industry leading Contract and if there has to be a layoff so be it. When the mechs come back off of layoff, they will be working under the best possible working conditions.

AA should be the airline that every Student mech strives to work for. The other airline AMTs should want to work at AA because of strong benefits and pay.

What are the parameters of this buyout?

My pension isn’t frozen, it was terminated. Did you not read the post you are quoting?

Already answered and explained, go read it again.

And you blew off the whole post.

AA froze the TWU represented employees pension and have to make up the shortfall in the plans for around $2 billion as its underfunded.

My understanding is that the AA Frozen Pension is within the law at 85% funded.

They are seriously misinformed.

I read it in black and white, met with the pension people.

So you take the word of two mechanics and didn’t take your own advice and do the research?

I’ve given you the path to contact them, go ahead and do it.

You listened to hearsay, I read it in person.

Sounds to me like they IAM was threatening the loss of the pension if they voted the teamsters in...
Lookie what I found on the Association website.

Mechanic Pensions on the Line in US Airways Election
July 23, 2013

It’s not often a group of workers can save their pensions and protect their seniority by the simple act of casting a ballot, but that’s exactly what’s happening right now right now as IAM-represented Mechanic and Related workers at US Airways vote in the current representation election.

“IAM Mechanic and Related workers at US Airways will lose the best pension plan in the airline industry if they vote IBT,” said Transportation GVP Sito Pantoja. “Losing IAM representation would also jeopardize valuable seniority protections that are written into the IAM-TWU joint representation agreement.”

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) filed with the National Mediation Board (NMB) in May for a representation election for the Mechanic and Related class and craft at US Airways, continuing the union’s divisive strategy of raiding other unions instead of focusing on organizing workers who want and need a union.

“The Teamsters have a dismal track record in the airline industry,” said Pantoja. “I strongly urge US Airways Mechanics and their families to watch the video below where Mechanics at United Airlines provide grim testimony about the IBT’s ability to deliver promised pension benefits.”

The NMB mailed voting instructions to all eligible voters on July 8, 2013. Election results will be announced on Monday August 12, 2013.

If any US Airways Mechanic and Related employee has not received voting instructions from the NMB, please click here to request duplicate voting instructions.

The deadline to request duplicate voting instructions is August 5, 2013.

No I clearly stated the pension would be frozen and not lost.

I also clearly stated the plan would not take contributions and a new retirement would have to be negotiated.

Also stated if you had less than five years you would get a lump sum.

We had five pages on this the other day.

Go back and read it and understand it.

I clearly stated I was at the roadshows with the pension people and read the rules in black and white.

Unreal you have to lie about what I posted.
