As I have stated many times........Given all we have given in terms of concessions, we should never have to give another concession again...But sadly, that is not how it works....I know the devil is in the details, but seeing and hearing the details today, I have to say it's not all that bad. LUS IAM folks won't agree with respect to the medical and pension issues. The company has moved substantially from what little the union has leaked out to us. Definitely a step in the right direction.
More vacation, sick time and holidays/holiday premium do sound good. The increase in premiums also sound good. A year's pay for those ready to retire is definitely a good thing. The outsourcing stays for the line but increase for the base. Something in the contract for many to like and many to dislike.
Now that it's all out there, I think certain items can be tweaked and we can hopefully expect a vote sooner rather than later.
But we have to see the ENTIRE package.
And I agree with Bob Owens...Getting our DB pension back won't happen. I know the union is fighting for it, but I think that is a losing battle.
I'm not sure about unanimous vote, but since the association is 50/50, whatever union is chairing at the time is the tiebreaker??????????????
Rogallo could you please explain to Watcher this isn't the 1950's, and doesn't work for a railroad, he works for an Airline, and no airlines want to maintain defined pension plans. His precious Parker included when he flushed his pension plan down the toilet and almost his job, when they almost went Chapter 7. However American saved his job. Good luck guys.A slight hiccup!
