Aircraft maint issues

Yes. Also add$1.20 hour for HRA - Veba account. S- Ual employees were brought in to the s- cal carp retirement plan. Unheard of in this day. Not just about pay scale but whole deal in its entirety. Best field trip language in industry and much more. Continuing to hire off street and many that were laid off coming back that were out prior to Teamsters coming in and picking up the pieces that were left to them. As always- Go Figure.

IBT has the resources to apply pressure. Other Unions with financial and political resources can apply pressure as well. What swamt is a part of just does not have those resources. Not to say I don’t admire their gumption but they are even more at the mercy than others out there.

And anyone can hit me if they like but that’s the facts Jack. That’s the facts.

SWA Amfa and legal advisors waiting on Federal Lawsuits from both sides and on ice. Nobody will address. American has aggressive negotiating scheduled thru holiday season - unheard of. Wish all luck to proceed forward. Not fun doin amalgamated agreements for large groups. Not everyone gonna be happy with multiple different expectations. Good luck with your continued negotiations.

Thank you. Absolutely appreciated.

There legal advisory tactic- "we will wait em out". Wow. Totally unbelievable. How did USAPA debacle work out for years in litigation?? Someone made money and was not the union members who financed. Same play book- different group. Totally unbelievable and almost appears criminal. Swamt backs that sort of unionism. Bordering on insanity. As always-Go Figure!!

I am just catching the tail end of this conversation, is the other type of unionism like the TWU and IAM or as I call them Industrial Unionism?

There’s more to a contract than pay and AMTs per aircraft, especially SWA vs the legacy carriers is like apples to oranges. I’d rather see a comparison of AMTs to Available Seat Miles as a seat is what generates revenue.

I know that I use the term Mechanics per Aircraft, but it could be unionized union members per aircraft.
While you are correct in stating there is more to a contract than Pay and AMT's per Aircraft, the Question the members always have is exactly that "what is my pay and compensation. I guess most figure that the details are being taking care of by the union they hire.

No argument there Wezz , just saying, and Swamt keep your own retirement plan, not trying to start an argument, you and me are good.
I know were good. I simply said what and why I posted it, basically the teamsters never came through for the UAL guys as promised, as they always do. This asso. is looking to do the same to the AA'ers and US'ers once they are combined. Trust me I will always keep my own retirement, never will I ever let any company or any union ever run or control my money period. They are too stupid and greedy to control my money. If I get too stupid, then that's on me for being stupid, BUT, that would be my fault. There's a Led Zep. song there, "Nobodies fault but mine."

Exactly. Most (including the ones you reference here) only see the $$$$ signs. AMT's per aircraft cannot be compared by any of the legacies to SWA period. Until this year we never went international, and we only have one type of aircraft. A no brainer why there are such large differences in AMT to Aircraft ratios. He just explains how uninformed he and others are about the mechanics groups and how they work. They are just fleet boys and stock clerks not really understanding how it all works.

Thanks Buck. I hope Tulsa can hang on to the shops. As DVLHog said, it appears the 3 at DWH are going bye bye. Not sure what will happen to the unlicensed OSMs but Im sure they will come to the floor with the few there now.
I think most, if not all, of the 80 upgrades from the shops to the hangar at Tulsa were the AMTs bumped from TAESL 2 years ago. Hopefully the company will recall the ones they bumped to the street.
I hope and pray we do not see the 3 shops left at DFW go away. I too hope that Tulsa will keep all their shops as well. We are still trying to protect all our shops at SWA too. I also agree with you in hopes that all folks that were forced to the streets will get called back or at least offered to come back, who knows they may now be doing great somewhere else. Would love to see the added positions returned to the mechanics that were forced to leave.

S- Ual recalled layoff guys coming been out of industry for years. Teamsters Promised industry leading cba. Done. S- Ual guys back in pension plan. Under leading cba in industry. Waitin for amfa to produce- besides awaiting Federal litigation. Admit when ur wrong. Be careful who u get ur advice - wisdom from.

I turned down a job at SWA in Dec. 88 at the new hangar at HOU. There have been times I’ve kicked myself in the ass for passing up the opportunity to work at SWA. No layoffs and a superior pay and benefit package to what we had for most of my career. But there have been times I am glad I’m at AA. Especially when sitting in First Class on the way to Europe or Asia. Lol
We could have very easily had the pay and benefits SWA has had but as we all know there would have been fewer of us enjoying it. I don’t believe any union would have done any better or worse at AA. Either gonna have a bunch of jobs or higher pay/benefits. No union will get both.
The structure and accountability are another subject. And for that I will sign an AMFA card every time I see one as I have for 28 years.

Thanks for your support, here is to all of us securing an industry, leading contract! :)

The mechanics receive a proffer for x dollar wage increase, because their peers in the industry have and Doug Parker "promises"
a percentage over ( 3% or 7% ) is that reason enough to increase the wages of the other Title Groups? Wasn't the issue for the last large raise to be able to work on each others aircraft?

I have been asking myself the last few days why LUS received the same raise as LAA and yet LAA does not get benefit matching.

And your getting two billion dollars into your frozen pension while my pension was terminated and turned over to the PBGC and your have gotten and going to get more equity, good for you all, but you dont see us LUS harping about it.

You are still under your chapter 11 CBA, we finally got out first Section 6 CBA in 2014, last one before that was 1999.

Where did you get the information

The company and union took the equity from us, that is our money along with any interest since they caash out that stock.

Why would you harp when you are leading the pack
