AFA PHL Meeting today

I am only stating opinions. Can you see if there are any of my trips on EBT that you want? I really don't want to work the rest of December. We have too much to do in the west part of the state planning Carol's retirement party and the farewell PIT gala!

Ahhhhhh.....you are an antagonizer!!!

No, I am not giving up my time to take YOUR trips.

And by the way, I am on the West side of the state.

I am about to tell you off......So, I will not respond anymore to YOU as I will end up in the cornfield for a very long time for what I am about to say!!!!!!

Girl, I know it's a lot of work, what with making sure the route to the Royce is plowed, and you have enough IC Lite, and cocktail weenies, and all. How can you be expected to work FCO or one of those other ITD routes, AND commute home on Southwest (my gosh, you have to be AT the gate, like 45 min. early or something - or else those junior reserves will steal your jumpseat), AND then feed the cats and get them to the groomers, AND go the the Giant-Eagle, AND then plan the party. A girl barely has time for a "special" choc. milk!!

Am I the only one who realizes that Gloria Holtz is a "Galley Show" type character? Funny too...

I'm sorry but NOTHING was going to come out of that meeting. So you'll get a Q&A with Carol.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz THAT will accomplish much. I might as well go hold a Q & A with my cat sitting here.

TRAVEL- I'm sorry you feel that way. By the sounds of BAJABABE, two very important items seem to have been brought up. Rotating Reserve and a Question/Answer with Carol Austin. If I'm not mistaken, Carol Austin has a huge role in approving our blocks as well as reserve lines. I've heard on several occasions that Carol is NOT reviewing the reserve lines and this is causing problems for reserves. So, it sounds like this is a good opportunity for the reserve group to go and let her know how p'oed you (as a group) are. You can sit and complain from home on your computer but nobody will listen until you show up. I mean, if I want a BK Whopper and Fries right now, I can't sit in my kitchen complaining that I want it but I won't get SQUAT until I get my a$$ there and get it. Right? Paz, hombre.

The difference is...................... I can go to get that BK Whopper (the way I need it) because I am paying for it. They actually listen to WHOM is paying them. We ARE paying the union, but they DON'T listen!!!!!!

Did you got to the meeting and tell them this? This is what they need to hear.

For the hundredth time...we already have a rotating reserve system; it's called LTO! They rotate all the time!

only stating facts.
yeah right now this system rotates and rotates and rotates and rotates but goes NOWHERE! the A330 to SJU operates at a better and more consistant schedule than us reserves do!

To rsv4ever: You have the perfect name because after going to the meeting today, it is apparent that we will all be reserves forever and ever and ever. In case you didn't hear, the "membership" will never go for a rotating reserve system and it doesn't appear that they want to take any concessions for BHs. The point is, we're not asking for senior BHs to go back to reserve, but say, f/as who would normally be reserves anyway would at least hold a block some of the time. He also mentioned partial blocks. I would be fine with a partial block and with bidding shifts, like all am or all pm.

Anyhoo, there were only about eleven people at the meeting this morning. I heard about the same amount showed up at the afternoon meeting. I can't wait to meet Carol Austin at the next one! I just hope the union puts out a notice well in advance because I will most definitely be at that one!

Oh, and MF let us all know that he reads what we write on here and so does the company and they LOVE it when we argue. That's nothing new but it was funny hearing it from him!

No matter what will come out, it was the members that passed a motion for Carol Austin to speak and answer questions at the earliest possible time, which is the spring. It was not anyone in AFA's idea, it was the memberships. It was a nice example that if you want answers you go get them. I will applaud AFA 70 officers for not resisting this motion and supporting it. No one wants to shove something down anothers throat. Now the question will be, how will Ms. Austin respond and interact with the members.

BRAVO to the person who brought up the idea! It is only reasonable that we meet her and have her answer our questions.

The best way to see what changes that can be implemented in the RSV system is to look at the costs.

That’s all that Tempe cares about.
Tempe can save a lot of money by getting rid of flight attendants at the top of the pay scale. This would directly create more blocks for the reserves. There are many senior F/As who can not afford to leave due to lack of resources and alternate opportunities, but there is also a significant number who have always planned on staying until they complete 25 years for that Pass. Tempe could offer the lifetime flight benefits or some type of sliding scale for those with a minimum of 14 years, without the money. This would be of minimal cost to the company and allow those 20-24 year F/As who do not qualify for the 65 point plan to leave with something for their two decades of service.
