AAG announces changes at DCA and LGA

Amen

VX' move may make it harder for DL to gain gates but it could also force a legal challenge to how AA WN and N. TX carved up DAL with no input from other airlines.
Either way AA and WN are going to see a whole lot more competition and that is a great thing

but dl may not get the 2 slots as you insisted they would  or they would file legal challenge!

Let's look at the JFK transcons which have been the backbone of AA and UA's network and in which both are now only willing to serve a fraction of the market while DL is now able to serve all segments of the market and has become the largest carrier.

I hate to be the one to tell you that AA maintains it's leadership position in the number of premium seats in the transcon markets. Delta is free to slug it out with VX and B6 for the leftover dregs.

and yet DL gets a higher average fare in JFKSFO than AA does even though AA flew the 762s.

DL's average fare is higher than AA also in JFKSEA and JFKLAS among other markets.

DL's average fare between JFKLAX is only 10% lower than AA's on JFKLAX - and DL has far more than 10% more seats per flight - so DL's revenue per flight will remain far higher than AA's. The difference in fuel burn on the 757 vs. the 321 is nowhere close to being high enough to give AA an advantage.

DL simply generates more revenue. That is why DL's market cap is one of the highest in the world and the highest in the western hemisphere and keeps climbing.

specific to this topic, as I said they would, VX is maximizing its asset divestiture awards by adding service into key AA markets and not those of other carriers.

Now that it's public that VX is interested (something I've been saying for months), I see no scenario where DL gets gates.

The best DL can hope for is a modest increase to their existing schedule, the worst they should expect is to maintain their current frequencies but having to schedule around the lease-holder's flights.

AA is supposed to get input from other airlines? That's still called collusion.

DL is free to file lawsuits, but the expectations on this were decided on by the DOJ. Not WN.

Certainly not AA. AA's the victim -- they had to divest of assets under force, unlike every other airline who merged...

again, I find it absolutely laughable here that people cheer for DL to be eliminated from being able to serve AA markets when it is very clear that VX has targeted and won very healthy double digit share in dozens of markets.

And DL will expand in N. Texas... the question is at which airport.

I know you struggle with reality, but the DOJ CAN BE SUED if it does something that someone believes is contrary to law.

For the millionth time, I am not saying that DL WILL sue the DOJ over this, but if VX is given any kind of preference at DAL over DL, then I believe you will see DL decide it is worth suing.

There is absolutely no justification for arguing that a carrier that currently serves DFW should be allowed to move from DFW to DAL but DL cannot GROW its presence in N. Texas by adding new service which will not reduce its presence.

It's not over - and again, more importantly, AA has a host of new competition hitting it.

Check back in about a year and let me know how well AA has navigated it

I find it laughable that you personally said delta would file a legal challenge back in nov  and here we are in march and nothing  gee I wonder why that is....    no more competition than what delta faces...    lets see here   from 9 carriers to 3 major plus wn vx spirit and allegiant

im quite sure aa will manage it quite well   look no further than how old us defended phl   delta cannot win everything

I'll let others do the post-surfing, but you were quite adamant that DL wouldn't take a decision against them lying down, and have mentioned taking it to the courts.

Then again, you're quite good at leaving slivers of an escape path in any argument you make.

and that very may well be in the works.... I don't know but it is a possibility.

VX controls a bunch of gates at LAX and flies alot of key industry markets competitive with AA and UA.

It was rumored that Branson wanted DL to buy his share of Virgin América but DL has apparently balked because of VX' high debt.

They say they want to do an IPO and have trimmed their growth until the binge of growth that is coming with the asset divestitures.

DL just might decide it is worth going after them now....

I'm guessing WT must have bought himself a new computer with either a Portuguese or Spanish keyboard... those accent marks only recently started appearing in his posts.

I may occasionally type things out in real English (by choice), but at least my keyboard and PC remain American...

I give you credit, E, for being smart enough to figure out what is going on with my browser. I guess that comes from you working in multiple languages and countries.

problem is that it is autocorrecting to French, not Spanish or Portuguese.

it also is only happening with airline forums.
