AAA ALPA Thread 9-21 to 9-27

An agency shop is a place of employment where workers must pay union dues whether they are a member of a labor union or not. This mandatory payment is sometimes called the Rand formula. The first agency shop was established at the Ford Motor Company plant in Ontario, Canada, in 1946.

The EC will represent the pilots in the Joint Negotiations if the East MEC does not show. Prater has already said so. Don't be surprised if they steal from the East just like they stole the Pension.

The threat of loosing $11 Million will continue to inspire the very best of ALPA. Fabricating the USAPA sickout was only the beginning.

The ALPO Reindeer games have begun. Given their past history, there is not much lower they can go.

You don't know about the donations.

USAPA is bulding a war chest. We have lots of money, but we want more in the war chest.

We are getting donations from all aspects, senior to junior, east and west, other airlines and non airline contributors who wish us success.

Lots of big donations and lots of support from the senior guys, one handed me a check 2 days ago, thanks!

Get ready for an election, we are days away from having enough cards. The EC resolutions will put USAPA over the top, and the donations will start rolling in now.

Today’s action should remove any doubt from the USAPA fence sitters that ALPA will not do anything regarding the Nicolau Award
But I thought there were no "fence sitters." I thought there were already enough cards.

In my opinion, the East MEC will authorize US Airways East NC members to re-enter JNC talks, but nothing says a TA has to be negotiated and nothing says the East pilots have to ratify a contract.
I disagree. The EC said this:
"The Council made a firm commitment to support a fast-track negotiating strategy to raise the pay of AAA pilots in order to achieve pay parity with AWA pilots and to achieve major raises (pay parity plus) for both pilot groups. These negotiations—which will move AAA and AWA pay rates beyond current AWA levels—will be conducted by the Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC)."
The EC will put the JNC on the fast track, and if the East stalls, then the EC will sit in place of the East at the negotiating table. They have committed to defending the award, and this would include attempts to delay it's implementation.

Furthermore, today’s action will likely strengthen USAPA, it will undoubtedly accelerate “kickingâ€￾ ALPA off of the East and West property,
I disagree again. Now that the award will be submitted and defended, it makes it even more of a certainty that any successor union will be bound by the award. This will make it even more likely that the majority of East pilots will realize the situation, and decide that their best hope for significant quality of life improvements will be to vote on a joint contract that will increase their pay and benefit their families in the shortest amount of time.

and if there was ever a chance for a negotiated settlement it is now because the choice for the AWA pilots is simple: Cut a deal or have union “impositionâ€￾.
Haven't you figured out yet that the West is not interested in giving in to threats and extortion? They haven't seen this through all the way to the end, just to throw in the towel and submit to the will of the East. The only deal cut will be at the JNC table.

This will be over, and a tentative contract will go out for a vote before the USAPA can even finish counting their cards.

I do not know if some people are going to conduct a job action or not. But what I do not is that the US Airways East MEC passed a resolution to SAP down to the SAP floor in November. If 50% of the linholders SAP down to the Floor, but get full pay because of the time inside their trips, then a pilot can get full pay and the company will lose about 3 days of flying per pilot during the month of November.

How will this legal job action effect company operations the last week of November? Can you say collapse...

Dear UAL 767 [edited],

You clearly do not understand the resolve of the USAirways East pilots and the USAPA movement.

There is zero support for a JNC led joint/single contract. None nada.

How about replying to your own posts?
Can that be stopped?

While we're at it Richard, how about not allowing people promote signing union cards. This is a forum for discussion, not promoting union membership drives. Let them start another threat for collecting cards.

Hey the AWA guys have a legal fund going. What was their law firm called again?

Hey 767,

This is an internet chat board.

get a life!

Why don't we forbid stupid posts too!

HAHAHO HO

Too many self proclaimed experts here, who truly have no clue!

Good Day!

I guess we'll see when a joint contract goes out for membership ratification with significant pay and work rule improvements for everyone overnight. IMO that resolve you speak of will dissolve. If it doesn't pass you can call me wrong. In fact I'll be the first to admit it.

If ALPA takes the place of the East at negotiations, it will only anger and alienate the East pilots even more. Any contract will still have to go before the MEC and must be sent out for membership ratification by the East pilots. It the extreme case, ALPA could place the EAST MEC in trusteeship if they refused to recognize any tentative agreement, but in all cases, any agreement must be presented to the East membership for ratification. This is the one gate that ALPA cannot bypass.

Any action they take, contrary to the wishes of the East pilot group or the MEC will ensure decertification and should they try to strong arm and fail, ALPA would be completely neutered in the attempt to thwart the USAPA effort. I really don't think they get it but then again they are thugs.

Any slow downs or sickout will play right into the hands of ALPA as they set you up to steal from the east just like they did when the stole the pension, without membership ratification.

The only thing that will save Pohn Jrater is a sale that disperses the USAPA supporters before they can have a free and fair election. Don't you know, ALPA publishes "Flying the Line." and they have means to punish the wayward.

Okay, deal! I will come clean on this too!

Honest.
