I understand that when an incident and accident occurs why the press is so quick to pass judgement, but I never understand when a pilot does. You must be the only pilot in on the planet who has never made a mistake and I would truly like to shake your hand for that reason.
But, all of the facts are not out yet. This anonymous report that "the pilots released the brakes before the chocks were in position" is not entirely credible. First of all, it only takes one pilot, usually the captain, to release the brakes; NOT pilots. Perhaps the person who released the brakes had actually received the chocks in signal. Perhaps the jetway was mispositioned, as has happened twice in my career when I stopped the airplane and would have hit the jetway by following the marshaller's signals.
Secondly, the first 330 put out of service was hit by a catering truck not even owned by American, or US Airways for that matter. I received that information directly from one of our 330 check airman who seemed to know more than just reading an anonymous post on the internet.
Thirdly, isn't it a violation of corporate ethics to be posting such photos on a public forum. What satisfaction do you get from violating corporate policy? Can't you at least wait for the results of the investigation to come out.
