"A  monkey could do it, right?"

Well, not even a monkey would do, since they can be unpredictable in their behavior (as can be humans.)

But the technology now exists and infrastructure could easily be developed (with sufficient funding) to take human pilots out of the equation entirely.

If ever the powers that be thought that people would actually be willing to board airplanes operated entirely by technology (which already exists) with no human input, pilots would soon be looking for jobs at Walmart.  And the airlines would love to add a few extra rows of premium seating with front-window views.

Robots can board the plan, load the bags, push it back, fly it and dispense sodas. Soon robots will drive the tractor trailers, ships, taxis and railroad locomotives.  Who is going to pay to ride skynet in this future, where humans are pushed out of work?   60% of ALL jobs are in danger of being "robotized" in the next 10 years.  We have bigger concerns than just airline concerns.  Change is 'a com'in.

Sounds like the only job worth training for is a robot engineer.
Humans have always been their own worst enemy.
Cheers.

What if all of the passengers are robots?

Then I'd suppose we'd all have to hope they'd be programmed to get along with each other better than we humans do....

There is a new website for American Airlines pilots called APA Final Control. The website has a lot of good/new information and can be viewed here: http://apafinalcontrol.com/category/industry-news/ The website's address is http://apafinalcontrol.com/

This is an excellent resource for industry, company, and union news for AA's pilots and other interested parties.

Saw nothing at all from the APA about this.

Sounds like a CM-controlled site for information phishing, i.e. email addresses?

Until APA comes out as a sponsor, beware, and don't give away your email address.

Just read APA President Keith Wilson's letter sent today to the APA membership regarding the JCBA.  Sobering.  And he does put the possible scenarios in perspective.  What really surprised me is that he revealed how he intends to vote...YES.

As the old saying goes: "A bird in th hand is worth two in the bush."

That's the guy who got canned last month from his position as head of the Professional Standards Committee.  For acting in a not so professional manner.

Previously wanted to be LEC Chair in DFW.  Got nowhere.  American buddies say he has favored capitulation on just about everything.

A perfect match for Munn.

Figured he was an AAer with a Granbury, TX address.

Parker and Glass cleaned the APA's clock big time even before this started, Wilson is weak, wonder how much he got paid to sell our profession out.

Found this response to Wilson........

"this really is funny, i can now see that our generation gave away a golden career because they are scared to stand up for the profession. now its not even a profession ...just an hourly job with huge responsibilities and crap compensation. how many days a month gone, no long term dis etc. 200 grand a year is nothing for what we do every day. our drunk of a ceo is laughing at us."

Here's my response to the a-hole you are quoting:  "Get a life.  You went into this profession with eyes wide open.  Pilots have been battling with CEOs since the days of David Behnke.  It goes with the effing territory, and if you can't stand it, quit.  Pilots are blue collar assembly line workers (manufacturing ASMs) who happen to command white collar pay, and that pay (sadly) makes them feel like management and entitled.  When the reality that they are labor smacks them upside the head, they whine about respect and saving the profession.  You should be selling shoes if it upsets you that our CEO is laughing at us.  He is doing his job, and laughing at the fact that you don't really understand yours."

I agree with much of what you posted however there are a few things I would like to point out.

Yes we all went into the profession eyes wide open, when I got into it pilots had a backbone, now? spineless.  One can lay down like a jelly fish, or fight to make changes.  Just because you are not happy being screwed does not mean you should quit.  Maybe if a few more pilots would actually say no to management just once in their pathetic lives small changes might take place.

Telling someone to quit because they don't like fighting management is counter productive to ever improving the situation no?

I agree that many pilots feel they are management, these are the ones always justifying concessions and the first to vote for them, after all they are just as "smart" as Doug.  Think CM
