20 Cuts In Pittsburgh

Every last one of them does and that is exactly why the IAM has put the breaks on full lock. Anyone who actually believes these people have your welfare in mind are in trouble. The only thing they have in mind is sailing off with a pocket full of cash no matter what human destruction floats in their wake.

All this is doing is making rich men richer and making the working class poorer and jobless, while assuring absolutely nothing in the way of a secure airline. This should not be allowed, when a company is this far in the straights and extreme measures must be taken that adversely affect others, then that should be the marker that it’s time to end it. Corporate America and bankruptcy attorneys are the only ones who profit off all this mess, they are no different then hyenas or vultures feeding on the carrion.

HP-FA:

US Airways Leasing & Sales Department has found B767-200s that have the correct engines and specs that do not need maintenace, but that is down the road. The company is not at the point of adding widebody's in the near-term as it first figures out whether or not it is going into bankruptcy.

Once its "Transformation Plan" is implemented, either by consent or imposition, then it can move forward with route and aircraft expansion.

There will be no imposition as long as the IAM breaths.

Does anybody know why you can still book a non stop from Pittsburgh to Frankfurt on USAirways.com ?

I checked dates after November 7th and the flight is still in the reservation system.

I even pulled up March 3rd of next year and the non stop is listed.

I thought it was being cut on November 7th.

They probably made the announcement because word was leaking out anyway, but the new schedule probably won't be loaded for a little while yet. I doubt they'll have too much trouble finding empty seats via PHL or CLT since that's getting into the slow season for transatlantic.

As I indicated before the announcement, the Pittsburgh to Frankfurt and London service will have the aircraft dedicated to this service transferred to Philadelphia, where US Airways plans new service this spring to Star Alliance hubs.

Moreover, as I previously reported, yesterday Bruce Lakefield confirmed at the ALPA mneeting in "open session" that if the company enters banrkputcy, the A330 leases could be rejected because of their expensive heavy maintenance due this winter. This move could permit the company to pull down a heavy maintenace track that would force additional mechanic furloughs, and preserve cash flow during the slower winter months.

And exactly how does US Airways preserve the PHL/CLT tranatlantic flying while cutting half of the transatlantic fleet (9 of 19 aircraft)? This indicates to me that the existing level of flying cannot be supported, thus expansion is highly unlikely... If anything, you will see the most marginal routes disappear.

When did Amsterdam disappear?

Once again he does not know what he is talking about, it costs way more to heavy maintenance on the 767 then it does the A330.

The first aging A/C inspection on the 767s is coming due this year.

And you wonder why no one believes you.

As I have said, the additional transatlantic flying would occur if US Airways does not enter bankruptcy.

Early this week I reported that US Airways could reject its A330 leases if the company enters bankruptcy then Bruce Lakefield told the ALPA MEC this information in "open session" yesterday.

How could this be? ESP?

Oh well, just two major announcement predicitons in one-week. Hummm....

Lakefield said the intent would be to preserve cash because of the heavy maintenance costs.

Separately, this would permit the company to eventually rationalize its widebody fleet and close a heavy maintenance track. This would also place more "pain" on the IAM.

Keep posting false information.

670UW- owned by US Airways, not leased
671UW- owned by US Airways, not leased
672UW- owned by US Airways, not leased
673UW- owned by US Airways, not leased
674UW- owned by US Airways, not leased
675US- owned by US Airways, not leased
676UW- owned by US Airways, not leased
677UW- owned by US Airways, not leased
678US- owned by US Airways, not leased

According to the FAA database.

And there is no dedicated A330 track to shut down. So try again with more false information.

And no one in the IAM respects you or believes you. Your obsession with the IAM just proves you are a scared man.

Every aircraft needs maintenance everyday, your posts prove your lack of knowledge daily.

USA320Pilot says: "US Airways Leasing & Sales Department has found B767-200s that have the correct engines and specs that do not need (heavy) maintenace, but that is down the road."

Too bad people have to resort to bantering instead of postive debate or providing important information.

I wouldn't call daily, I mean hourly misinformation positive or important, It's just more work for 700 and others who are growing tired of the misleading posts.

And a plane in the desert does need heavy maintenance before it is allowed into the active fleet, it has to have a fresh C-Check and HMV visit, the interior and other things have to be converted to US Airways standards.

It is called Fleet Standardization.

And like I said the 767s in the fleet cost way more then the A330 to maintain, as the 767s this year will start the Aging Aircraft program which US Airways, the FAA and the other operators have designed using A/C 648 as the first one to develop the maintenance package.

Once again you post things that you have no idea about. But keep trying.
