Can someone explain Project Highground?
It was USAir's first attempt at a Metrojet type of operation under Butch Schofield. Nice try but as usual....not very well thought out or executed.

Somethings never change.............sigh :(

Why Yes why no?
It might survive 04. I think US Airways is kind of like the person rotting away because of cancer. As their flesh slowly rots and life is slowly stolen away, the agony increases until finally the misery creeps into death.

The death began back in the Wolf/Gangwal days, when the company made retarded management decisions and paid sh1tty managers too much. The morale problem was never corrected (he11, that's why I always got something stuck up mine) and pretty much every former employee hates US Airways (Wolf would be notable exception. Hope you like your sh1tty little jaguar that my money paid for).

It's just a matter of time folks. Get your affairs in order, for the reaper cometh. Enjoy the rest of the walk down the Green Mile.

Cheers,

513 :(

Finally, to Mr Piney Bob, we prefer "desert brown" on our Classic style aircraft.
Classic style aircraft??? Southwest has the ugliest paint scheme ever sprayed on a commercial airliner! Their whole livery, inside and out, reeks of Sanford and Son-ish taste! Whoever came up with that crap must have been smoking Crack!!!

The old scheme certainly was. I find the new one to be oddly attractive.

"Crack" cocaine was at least a decade away from being invented by (take yer pick) coke dealers looking to maximize their profits or (for you conspiracy fans) the C.I.A. back in 1971 when the 'Classic' WN scheme first appeared.
So, sadly, your theory is factually impossible. ;)

You're right, I hear our passengers talking about how they hate our paint scheme all the time. Most of them say they wont fly us again because of it....LMAO, :p .

I voted yes in the pole... and here is why...

Based on a previous financial analysis, where I came to the conclusion that on an annual basis, US Airways is losing $1mil/day in unrestricted cash... On this basis, I predicted that sometime this fall (my guess was October) US Airways would find itself in a cash crunch again, as the unrestricted cash balance would be nearing the minimum allowed by the ATSB ($700mil). When this happens, US Airways will again be forced to prepay on the loan. However, this brings the unrestricted cash balance down to about the same level or less on hand when the company declared BK the first time. This all assumes for the moment no asset sales.

I assume no asset sales because US Airways will be looking to sell assets and keep them in the US Airways brand. I am beginning to think this is unlikely. Why would Mesa/CHQ buy PSA or MDA and keep the airplanes in US colors. All that does is give these companies even greater exposure to the next BK. That would be a bad investment. Now, if Mesa/CHQ can buy PSA/MDA and move the aircraft to other operators, maybe that is ok, but I doubt that will be US Airways goals. Therefore, I see asset sales as unlikely as this point.

So, I think US Airways has a better than 50% shot at being in BK before 2005. However, airlines take a LONG time to die, even in BK. IIRC, National Airlines (the LAS based 757 operator that failed after 9/11) was in bankruptcy protection for more than half of its existance (about 2 years out of 3.5 years). I think UAIR maybe Ch.11 by the end of the year, but I will assume that Ch.7 does not occur until after the new year.

Just my opinion folks.

No matter SW color scheme...obviously folks fly them and they make loads of money, their employees are satisfied....

U could be so lucky. Our paint scheme doesn't bring passengers on our flights, so one could easily deduce that color means diddly squat.
