WN Mechanics seek mediation

About F ing time.

driver I have to be fair on this one and say that the timeframe to put it together from an AIP to a TA wasn’t that bad if it is coming out tomorrow.

Making sure all the language is clear and correct is a serious task and one I wouldn’t want my Negotiators to take lightly.

And good luck when you read it all and have your vote.

The issue wasn't take your time, the issue was the games played on both sides. I am sure the mediator chewed both sides ass, nothing like going before a pissed off judge.

That's the way he is weez. I send, what he should think is good news, and, bam he is still coming with the negative post, he must be a very angry little man.
Don't take this post as everyone should be thinking good news as we have no clue what the totality of the T/A looks like until we get it in our hands and evaluate it for ourselves and our families. I have a feeling the numbers will not be there, but we will see.

It's only good news if it passes and is concludes. By the time you have the road shows, and vote you are at August. If it fails we move to year 7. Then who knows how long after that. I will probably get a disagree from you, but I wouldn't be shocked.

Folks, numbers are unchanged as Bird reported already. Here's a blip from the union and more info (with numbers) will follow as we get the info...

Press Release: AMFA and Southwest Airlines Reach Tentative Agreement for Aircraft Maintenance Technicians
June 27, 2018 -- After almost six years of negotiations, the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) and Southwest Airlines (SWA) announced a tentative agreement (TA) on a proposed contract for the airline’s Aircraft Maintenance Technicians.

I find it a little interesting that after 6 years of nego's I run across only "one" article of news about our T/A. If we were the Pilots it would be more like 12 different news agencies pumping out the breaking news. Below is the only article about our T/A that I saw while scrolling my news this morning...

That's because our group is so small, maintenance is invisible until something bad happens. Then people worry about who works on their airplanes.

Although it's only one article a timeline was presented. 6-week roadshow followed by 30 day review. IF RS's begin even on July 9th we're looking at last half of September before vote tally is revealed. That's approaching 160 days from AIP to ratification if approved. It appears to me that the timeline is the poison pill that all but guarantees passage although I'm hoping we all wait to review before deciding.

The only good thing would be , your back pay is retro back to April 1 st. Birdman you call it a poison pill, is this the Unions plan. Or do you think it is like in 2008. When they didn't recommend the last contract, and it passed. Is this in your opinion , so they can't be blamed? What is your guys opinion?

All I know is the F/A's went 49 days from AIP to ratification and the Pilots 68 days. We'll likely be near 160. Only a well worded conspiracy theory would make this whole scenario believable and both sides could be blamed. I'll wait till 2023 to say for sure but a fresh set of negotiators might be in order.

If we want to talk about history then it needs to be pointed out that both those groups voted down the first TAs they got, and both groups received better terms on the second.
