WN drops three stations

Nothing more than a pompous gluteus maximus.

Like he gets pleasure from other airlines RIFs, but if DL does it, its the best business move ever.

WT is about to school you guys on the flaws of SW..... next up, the cargo carriers.....

Well, except for you. In the very.next.paragraph.

But hey, it's "just business," right?
who said anything about "justifying" anything that the legacy carriers have done or that I take pleasure in anyone's RIF?

WN is doing what other carriers have done and by E's own words, it is not new to WN. What WN is now doing is closing multiple cities per year, something the legacy carriers have done but WN has not.

No one said anything about justifying or taking pleasure in seeing that happen.

I am making the point which is absolutely valid that WN's business model is now less and less different from the legacy carriers, making it all the harder to justify that they should deserve special treatment.

WN's actions are not lost on people in Washington, esp. as some legacy carriers DL are pointing out exactly why the nation will lose by handing over a bunch of slots to LFCs who will not use the slots to benefit all of America but to service a smaller and smaller network of cities - 18 less than it was when WN acquired FL.

The only true real reason WN acquired FL was to eliminate a competitor. DL can point out this or that all they want but they too have pulled out or reduced service to cities no different than wn doing the same thing right

So now you don't like it when you think someone has tried to put words in your mouth?

You tried the same thing to me when I said nothing of the sort.

I'm still appalled that you think even a few WN employees to be displaced is OK or justifiable.

You are a great spokesman for WN mgmt.
.
How about you stop accusing others of the same thing?

except there is nothing I said about taking pleasure in what WN is doing. that is nothing but a construct in your mind.

except that DL didn't wipe cities off its route map as a result of the merger.

It downsized two hubs.

And if you think that AA/US is exempt from the same thing, then I'll be having a field day when it most certainly happens.

I merely reiterated that you said that it was only a few people.

At one point is too many, well, too many?

one more person that what WN has done it to?

Down sizing still means people lose their jobs or have to move in order to keep their jobs.

you do realize this was 3 years after the merger?

"Flights in these markets on average depart with 52 percent of the seats filled, with some locations as low as 12 percent. This compares to a domestic system load factor of 83 percent for 2010. Weak demand in some markets has led to flights occasionally operated with no passengers on board.

"While Delta would prefer to continue serving these communities, the new reality of mounting cost pressures faced by our industry means we can no longer afford to provide this service. As we continue to strengthen our business, Delta is retiring the Saab turboprops and some 50-seat jet aircraft, which will hinder the financial viability of serving these smaller markets," Delta said.

A number of these were EAS cities.

Can you tell me how many EAS cities WN has ever served?

And I was only pointing out that you were exaggerating the numbers, not that it was insignificant.

A few is too many when WN let's people transfer to stay with the company.

But when Delta sends thousands packing, with no opportunity to move and retain those jobs, it is just the way it goes in the airline business.

Nobody said you "took pleasure" in it. You've leapt to that conclusion all by yourself.

But for you to say no one is "justifying" it, only to then immediately do exactly that is a bit disingenuous.

Hold that thought...

An inconvenient truth.

SFW?

It still runs counter to your statement that cities weren't wiped off the map as a result of the merger.

And?
