What's new

Will you hold a vote no sign at the gate of TULE?

Well I'm 50 too and voting YES....

Yes & your staying with the company too, Whether this passes or fails it won't be the end of the world for you or anyone else but everyone has to vote in their own best Interest.
The average age in the TWU is 49 so in the next 10 years most of us will be gone, we just have to make it a little while longer, with so little time remaining & this being the last contract most will see some want it to be a good as they think they can get & are willing to take the risk, others want to play it safe & are content with what is being offered.
Neither is wrong in my opinion they just see it from different perspectives, a person's situation makes a huge difference in their perspective.

Whatever Buck. Take the money and runnnnnnn..... B)
Bad answer.

I too am to young to take the payoff.

Why do you hate the young people so much, that you would take yours so they get kicked out the door or back to OSM.?

Really? Vote no and see what happens to the young people. I'm on their side in this deal. Apparently you are un-educated on the bankruptcy and what imposed terms mean. It will be you sending the masses to the door with a no vote, not me....

Fight with a sign? No thanks. I would rather convince my people with the facts....

Some multi-task & can do both, there aren't many facts to consider really, the TA summary pretty much sums it up, It takes most people less than a day to know whether they can live with it or not, the sign is mostly a way of telling others that some haven't given up & they will fight till the end.

Boy you need to attend a meeting. What hanger are you in? There are meeting dates set and you really should attend one before you make a big mistake....

What, no reply? You may want to go to a meeting before somebody stops and asks you "What voting No is gonna do for them" as you hold your sign on the corner. Having a good argument to support your cause may be of some benefit, but you don't have one do you?

I'm actually in the Cam building & I probably will attend the meeting, not likely anything they say will impact my decision though, especially if it is a fear campaign, I'm not big on fear campaigns as a way of selling something, I haven't actually decided how I will vote on this contract just yet, this one is much better than the last one so not as easy of a decision & I'm not confident that a stock clerk or John Hewitt a International wannabe can do any better.

Voting No could be a mistake but I for one think that we have what were being offered now because we voted No on the last really bad offer, could it work again ? Maybe ..... Maybe not it's a roll of the dice.

I would reply that voting No could mean another better offer like voting No on the last offer got us, & they might reply with yeah but it might not work & we could be stuck with the term sheet for years, my reply would be that is true ...... It's a roll of the dice are you feeling lucky my friend ? B)

In my opinion what you are seeing now is basically what the "Me Too" LOA was to generate from within the LBO after the pilots got 3% knocked off their deal. In my opinion If you had voted for the LBO then this would have been the outcome. I'm gonna let you go for now and suggest you do go to your meeting before you grab your sign...best of luck with your decision

Correction, you're on the side of any and every deal that the TWU has ever brought back. Its not like you will ever vote no, so spare us the sudden solidarity speech. Besides, being educated on bankruptcy by a guy like Rick Mullin does not make you an expert by any means.

Yes really. You and your kind may have saved some OSM jobs, that are literally half pay I'm the industry, however you have further divided the mechanics. Yes you are on the young people's side at the bottom of the industry last in pay and benefits.

Come on, you know how this works, the TWU will make sure that there will be enough early outs to stop most of the layoff. The only question is how many OSM's there are going to be. The union is making a guess at 986 for layoff and a little more that for early out. 57 have already left TUL.

Why don't you come out of the closet and let the young people know how you are going to fare?

Is it true that the TWU is doing fear (vote yes) meetings on the clock with the companies blessing?

If so, as a reminder, if the company is allowing the meetings, that means they want this voted in. If the company wants this voted in, that means that the union did not get all they could for their members. Make them keep negotiating till they get it right.
