Kev that's even cold for you. You don't know the predicament ratifynow is in. As far as being subpar that is your opinion. I like the pay rates and job protection.

He is not helping me or my family at this point his constant rants from something that he has no business talking about at my airline is effecting my lively hood. He has his own airline and needs to stop harassing and bullying members with his twisted views on how United employees need to work. I need my money and I need it badly you may be from another airline as well and I don't appreciate people meddling in on my contract that will pay my thousands in retro money and provide me with a raise I deserve.

The longer the negotiations take, the larger your retro check will be. So you think everyone should rollover for the company and agree to this nonsense just so you can 'pay your bills'? Would you say the same thing to justify crossing a picket line?

I just want to comment on one thing I got bills coming out of my ears I got two kids I'm trying to put thru school and I have some guy from another airline trying to derail a contract I have waited 4 plus years for...Can someone please tell this person to please stop. I am just about losing my house and I need my retro money badly. I can't wait any longer I need my money and I need it NOW.
post number 2...what was your first post?

Mike33 That was my first post I saw an ad link and clicked over and signed up. I am steamed at this guy interfering with our group and posted a comment explaining my thoughts. This guy is nothing more than republican saying no to everything, this current deal coming is better than the first from what I can see so far and I don't need any hype from an outside Non United worker trying to convince me or my fellow employees how we should vote. I need my Money Now and waiting longer is not an option for me or my family.

Well for someone who is not going to gain much from this deal, (myself) mistakes were made all around. The District should have not gone into single carrier talks first and settled your raise and retro before going into joint talks. That way this festering divide would have never happened. We could have went into joint talks on a better footing. But that's water under he bridge. The other workgroups got their deals before going into joint talks. The Dstrict should have tried to make you guys whole before joint talks.

I'm not going to vote yes for any substandard contract. The last one was DOA and the District said it was monumental. Now they sent out a highlight of the new TA. IMHO , the District should not announced it till it was ready for the public. It just gives people suspicion on why the wait. Glossy hoghlihts dont cut it for me. Lets see what's in it before passing judgement.

with all due respect for Ratify's financial struggles, are your/his/her coworkers in similar financial situations such that they feel that approving a deal now is as important as you make it? There is ample data to suggest that Americans are making smarter personal financial decisions and are adapting. Again with all due respect, he/she/it is probably the exception rather than the norm.

Kev is absolutely right about managing one's personal finances in such a way that you can make decisions that are healthy in the long-term.

And more importantly, will UA employees pay a much higher price down the road because of the urgency because a minority of people need to pay a few bills today?

I wish you all well in your decision.

Thank you for wishing us well in our decision . We will make that decision based on facts and what is best for us and our families.

We will not be misled by internet french malcontents from another airline that lie and imagine there is a dragon in their dark little computer room

Kev wondering if you would respond to my post up thread about accountability and weak CBA language when you get a chance.

Thanks,
Josh

Sure.

IMO, change at the top cannot occur w/o change on the shop floor. Without that, it's just a reshuffling of the deck chairs.

Trumka is "okay" I guess. I happen to like the idea of other groups banding together w/organized labor (assuming labor gets it's own sh*t together), but don't think it was his idea?

CBA language should be crystal clear, easy to understand, and easy to both interpret & apply. And the room where the talks are held should be packed w/members...

Make sense?

For the most part I agree. But admittedly, I'm not sure it would be practical to have the entire membership present at negotiations, both logistically and for the sensitivity of the information being exchanged. Maybe a webcast for part of negotiations would be the best way to improve accountability and transparency? As you readily admit many airlines employees can't be bothered voting in representational electrons or TA votes, let alone take the time to read the CBA, what makes you think people would participate in negotiations in large numbers?

Correct the shop floor needs to be onboard but an effective leader would work to do just that, not simply preside over the organization doing the bare minimum to live another day.

What is also troubling is the increasing use of LOAs, completely bypassing the collective bargaining process and democracy unions pride themselves in.

What complete rubbish, hopefully the UA members will vote this P.O.S. down once again. Make Ira, Sito and the AGCs work under the terms they expect everyone else to, see how they like it.
