If you were aware of the way in which AirTran handles any transactoin, you would agree. They are THE worst in the industry in labor relations and interpersonal dealings with internal and external parties. ATA employees have the aptitude to see and understand those charcteristics. Fl is and will always be ValuJet.

The NTSB the FAA and the AFA; better yet ask any employee of AirTran for forst hand experience... I am sure they would concur.

Skyguy,

I'm not sure which AirTran you're talking about, but I know three AirTran Pilots and four AirTran gait agents and they all love working at AirTran. I like might like SWA more than AirTran, but I think AirTran would be a great airline to work for.

Well I am sure you kind find 7 people that LOVE to work for PSA or USAirways, but trust me that is not indicitive of the airline at all...the majority hate it. And rightly so. What really is bothering, is that AirTran owns nothing at all. not a single aircraft, tug cart , piece of equipment, ect...its all on paper.
["four AirTran gait agents"] where? DAY, CAK, PHL or DAY? hahaha!

I think when you start calling Airtran Valujet you are on the wrong track. Nope, never worked for either. True that VJ bougt Airtran, however, Airtran today, from all I have talked to, is a completely different animal.

WN has offered about as much to the ATA employees as Airtran, pretty much nothing, only AWA was going to take employees along with
assets.

Not knowing much else, it seems to me that you simply have a problem with Airtran due to its Valujet beginnings.

Do tell us which issues the FAA and the NTSB has with Airtran?

I can promise you that if SW gets the lion's share of the MDW business, if you are an ATA employee, what you will get out of the deal (maybe) is an interview for an entry level job. SW has been very careful over the years to not upset their unions with DOH or slotting issues with acquired employees. It's much simpler to hire new.

And, they don't need ATA's a/c; so, any scope clause in your contract based on transfer of assets is probably null. The gates can't be considered true company assets because they actually belong to the city of Chicago.

Correction: AirTran bought ValuJet. And i was not inferring that is the same animal, but there are elements that are consistant. Have no problems with ValuJet. Just stating facts. Actually all the people that I know that work for AirTran who used to work for ValuJet loved it much better before AirTran bought them.
As for the issues with governmental agencies? Do your homework. All airlines have issues, but when you have FA's who don't know how to arm a door, you have to wonder. And for the record I am not currently employeed with AirTran, ATA, or Southwest.

I saw a Comair flight attendant who didn't know how to arm the door (I was on the plane!)

Therefore Delta is a bad airline, right?

KCFlyer: I stand corrected. Please correct me if i am am wrong, but AirTran's road to rehabilitation began in 1997 when ValuJet acquired AirTran, dumped its cartoon critter logo and moved its headquarters from Atlanta to Orlando. Next came a management shake up in 1999 that brought a new team of executives headed by Leonard, former chief operating officer for now-defunct Eastern Air Lines and a longtime industry executive. Only one member of the company's current 14-member leadership team worked for ValuJet at the time of the crash. You are now looking at the world's youngest fleet, and for the Delta comment above, all i ask if for you to look at FL's saftey record.
