I believe we should be good to ourselves for xmas and in turn give Doug a REALLY nice xmas present.
Let's all pull together to make this a safe, plesant travel holiday. Let's get those in PHL to step up to the plate and make things run smoothly. Let's all do our best to give the greatest customer service the flying public has ever had.
This way we will not have any headaches, stomachaches or a bad taste left in our mouths when it is over. We will AGAIN take pride in OUR airline and ourselves.
Happy Holidays to all and to all a Good Night.

Can I get a glass of that Kool-Aid Please?

 Yea and could I get a clas of union cool aide it is sooo much better! Opps I forgot the unions only ruined the steel industry, the auto industry and now the airline industry! What a trifecta. Take your loser east coast unionista attitude and go on wellfare!

Zonecontroller,

Why is it considered kool-aid drinking to want to give our customers the best service we can? Please, explain that to me. I truly don't understand.

I believe that the topic was “what we should really give ourselves for xmasâ€￾. Do not turn this into yet another union/non-union discussion.

Stick to the topic or it’s a lump of coal for everyone. <_<

why not give the absolute best in gettin on time departures and a smooth operations this holiday season?

while i heartfully appreciate the encouragement and pride embedded in this post, i resent the intended sole recipient: doug. to be sure, usairways is much bigger than doug, over 40k times bigger, actually. "pulling together" and "doing our best" are natural responses to doing a job we (hopefully and presumably) love, and, "in turn", reflect favorably on our customers and those we support through our employment...

No disrespect meant, but I seriously doubt most of our customers during the holiday season have any clue, nor do they care, who Doug Parker is.

Who they will remember is the agent who checked them in, the agent who boarded the flight and the flight attendants who gave them their beverage.

They aren't going to remember it's a post 9-11 aviation experience. We can't fault them for buying into the many years of airline advertizing that made flying somewhere part of the fun. All we really have to give them is a good attitude, friendly service and a safe trip from point A to point B. And I hope their checked bags make it too!

We can all do the best we can with what we have to work with.

How about doing our best to make sure everyones bag arrives with them. That way the agents at the arrival stations won't be forced into overtime to process baggage claims.

How about trying your best to not call in sick. That way the agents who wouldn't have called in don't have to work short handed.

Remember when unions were important and meant something to America?

Neither do I, I'm only in my 40's

Corporate gift giving nowadays is far and few between.....often times employees complain they didn't like this or that and when small tokens of gratitude are criticized, WHY should management bother? The holiday season means many things to many different people.....I prefer to give rather than receive (some consider me a high priced Who*e who FEW can satisfy....so be it) but actually all I want is a SIMPLE Genuine Thank You, be it from supervisors, co-workers and passengers and nothing more. (And that makes work, NOT work. A little bit of kindness goes a long way.

Let me start by saying I am union and regardless of my redoric I will do my job to the best of my abilities during this holiday season.. That said.

I'm a giver also, to my friends and family, to charities, and to those in need. Giving anything to a corporation other then what is required is assinign ( a futile occupation I seem to be involved with everyday?) . Corporations are not family, friends, or in need... They have. Whats more they take, consessions, decressed benifits, high benifit costs..

The lets all join together and kick ass clamour leaves the question.... why? "Ohh dont bite the hand that feeds you" Not asking what brand of kool aid your drinking but wheres the reason to not call in sick or vaction to spend time with family on the holidays? For the greater good. Or just because of the paying public? Or is it a deep job ethic that drives us.

Heres a xmas gift we should all enjoy.. Spend as much time with your family, let them all know how much they mean to you.. Work is work... I thought Aviation would be a career, but in this environment it is just really a job. Yes you can love it or leave it but to accept that is statement, without question is rediculous.

Every day I do the best job I can. Not just at Christmas. No patronizing lectures, thank you.
