What to expect USAir PHL-TLV

That is correct; the -300 does not quite have the range. And AFIAK all the -200s have the new Envoy cabin. The -300 refit is proceeding, slowly.

I understand that the last 2 of the A333's are in for heavy maintenance and conversion now, so all operating A330's have the suites.

whats difference between the a330-200 n 300?

from Wiki:
The A330-200 is a shortened, longer-range variant, which entered service in 1998. Typical range with 253 passengers in a three-class configuration is 13,400 km (7,200 nmi).[81] The A330-200 is ten fuselage frames shorter than the original -300, with a length of 58.82 m (193 ft 0 in).[81][93] To compensate for the smaller moment arm of the shorter fuselage, the vertical stabiliser height of the -200 was increased by 104 cm (41 in).[94] The -200's wing was also modified; structural strengthening of the wing allowed the maximum takeoff weight of the -200 to be increased to 229.8 tonnes (507,000 lb).[94]

If you can get a good Envoy fare, take it, and save your miles. You'll love the pod seats, and even if the flight crew is less than stellar it's worth the $1,000 savings IMO. CO has great service, but they fly the 777's in a 2-2-2 configuration in BusinessFirst. I like US's Envoy seating configuration better.

I'm somewhat of a Debbie Downer when it comes to US's domestic F product, but for Transatlantic travel on the A330's they really got it right with the Envoy Suites.

Ok, renewed interest in taking this flight over LX.
I noticed US 796 goes BOS-TLV with an intermediate stop and aircraft change in PHL. Is this usual? Never seen this flight before, interesting they chose BOS to tag on from TLV. Looks like US 797 continues to LAX. Why choose BOS and LAX to tag on, or at least why not make it the same for the flight number?

I know AA 154 is similar, NRT-ORD (777) and ORD-BOS (737-800) but never seen this on US before.

I was able to look closely and know there is no US BOS-TLV non-stop, no US TLV-LAX non-stop (there is on LY though). Could be seen as a deceptive practice to some I suppose.

It is not a deceptive practice, all airlines us "tag alongs" as you can see it is cleary stated as a change of planes, and marketing chooses the pairs, or depending on the country certain flights are award to certain city pairs.

For example when Piedmont was award the LGW flight its routing was awarded as TPA-CLT-LGW and back, that is how the plane was routed.

And US never claimed nor marketed non-stops flight international from BOS or LAX, cleary US only flies to Europe or TLV from PHL and CLT, and those are the facts.

Did US fly BOS-Europe at one point? I know UA did LHR until shortly after 9/11, DL did CDG and LGW before their recent push at LHR, and NW had the long standing AMS route. Why nothing at PHX or PIT?

US did fy transatlantic out of BOS....I think it was to FRA, and possibly another city. They also flew PIT-LGW and (I think) PIT-CDG.

US moved the CLT-FRA flight to BOS for a bit and then moved it back, they never flew to anywhere else from BOS than FRA in the european market.

Makes sense, no one in their right mind would fly US to FRA when there are two flights on LH. Similarly, AA to LHR is on its last legs, the morning flight is being cut. I guess when given a 777 or 744 on BA people don't want AA's trAAshy 757.
