What the deal AMP

We will wait till we get a contract, then try, just like when they wanted to get rid of the Teamsters. My prediction they will want an in house union, like the pilots. Majority are getting fed up with AMFA stall tatics, however we don't want our bonus money going to the union.

Observation:

Aircraft Mechanics seem to always want to change Unions.

The AMFA drives of the 90’s
You guys dumping IBT for AMFA
UAL and their many changes
LUS IBT attempt
AA AMFA and AMP drives
You wanting the IBT back
These guys again looking for something

Seriously driver why do you think AMT’s are so incredibly restless and dissatisfied?

I didn't vote to dump the Teamsters, I was a Steward, and took **** for it, so who is laughing now. Rumor has the guys in Phoenix want to bring the Teamsters back, I would gladly sign a card to dump AMFA.

Why?

What about an Independant like AMP?

Well I hate to ask this but if that’s really the general consensus what about going the Delta route and completely decertifying from all Representation?

I’m not hearing about any AMT drives going on over there?

Realistically not going to happen. Many union members in any capacity and having spent their careers being in a union would not like the insecurity of not having one. Delta has been built on being non union with the exception of their pilots. If people would not mind having seniority be a non issue and have things like overtime and shifts be called based on "favoritism," then no union is the way to go for them.

I would perfer an in house union, I don't know anything about AMP, I want nothing to do with the Seham law firm, I personally feel we have been lied to from this whole process. We have some die hards would have no problem going 8 years, without a contract , or a say to vote on one. I could see if you were looking at a bankruptcy contract. I think AMFA can be saved at SWA if we can **** can the negotiating committee, and the ALRs, if not then I would take our in house, or Teamsters, if things do not change. We will never get back 6 years of lost investments and lost profit sharing compounded earnings, never!-Buck I really hope you guys can pull this off, I do.

I thought AMFA was an independent?

It iis in that it is not part of the AFL-CIO. No political affiliations, it is a Grassroots to try and determine what the mechanics
and related would like to have represent them. Independant of the AFL-CIO

Do you think that Delta Mechanics look at the rest of the industry running around trying to change their underwear all the time and are happy they’re not on that treadmill?

Another Observation:

How come this same pattern doesn’t exist with Pilots, Flight Attendants, Rampers and Agents? It seems to be completely exclusive to Aircraft Mechanics?

Buck all I know is you guys are moving now and not just talking over and over about it. That’s good.

You have to start somewhere.

I believe the Delta mechanics are very glad to have no union. They are doing way better than the rest of us without paying union dues.

And for one thing, pilots, flight attendants and agents have exclusive unions with no other work groups to represent.
I guess rampers feel they have done well by the TWU.
We mechanics do not feel that way. I suppose we feel we should have our own union.

I was a wonderful idea, but ours has become some twilight zone saga, and needs major changes to fix control of a minority 10% group, that drags stuff out forever.
