Sure!

I have family above you in Leadville

"Bob,

You know, Jim Jones had that effect too."

Wouldn't it be accurate to say that Jim Jones used social, emotional coercion and peer pressure to control people and eventually kill hundreds?

Don't you think that the Jim Jones metaphor has gotten a little out of hand, unless any poster might wish to convey the message that he or she wishes people to drink poison? Let's go back to the obsessive and repetitive use of anal intercourse metaphors. They're slightly less disturbing.

Although I have to admit that oldiebut's pun of 'yearend cost cuts' as 'rearend cost cuts' was pretty funny.

OK. But what does Leadville and "Buena Vista", "spelled correctly I may add", have to with this?

DARN... I just spent 5 minutes editing my quoting mistake. I keep quoting the wrong posts! Sorry. See above.

You don't look to create Win-Win situations, you look to obfuscate, obstruct and cling to the old ways as your power base slips from you. In that respect I have little sympathy. It's to bad that a great many decent hard working folks will be on the street due to labor's leaders lack of creativity.
Robert, Robert, Robert...

Once again, failure to have any knowledge of what you are discussing does not restrain you from commenting and making ludicrous generalizations.

You have NO idea of what labor at U has offered to management as progressive ideas in cost savings.

You have NO idea of what those still at U put up with, the overwhelming negativity and poor morale.

You have NO idea of the personal and familial sacrifices employees make in this industry, even in good times, due to the 24/7/365 nature of the job.

You have NO idea how frustrating and demoralizing it is to those still at U to see the same old unproductive, failed "strategies", the refusual to move forward.

To my knowledge, YOU have never paid any union dues and all your knowledge is second hand.

Have you written to labor leaders, emailed them as you profess to email dave? Have you sought balance and information before taking what CCY tells you and running amok with it?

Please tell us who has annoited you as the Guru of U... did you kiss dave's ring in a secret ceremony we don't know about?

Why this obsession with this particular company and the benefits and work rules and wages of the people therein. Are you this strident with your cable company, your grocer, your retail clerks... get some balance in your life, man. How much precious time of your life have you wasted on this board pontificating, when it means nothing!

Why not shift your focus to Wendy's where your "sweet thang" has a financial and career stake and it personally affects your life? Maybe you can design a new sandwhich and tell the cooks how to prepare it and what they should earn while doing it. The "Piney Bob Classic", heaped high with spices, chili, and filler, but no meat. I thought you were planning a marriage and move, etc... your time would be more rewarding focusing on that!

Your style and pattern suggest a distinct agenda. This poster is tired of your tactics and name calling.

It is highly likely that many wonderful people that work at U have some interesting times ahead, and may find themselves unemployed. It is clearly evident that contrary to your statement, the onus of this rests solely on the lack of managerial ability and leadership emanating from the palace. The troops have stood bravely on the front lines and defended their turf time after time and have given and given. The working force of U has nothing to apoligize for and do not want or need your sympathy.

The labor leaders at U have not been militant or unreasonable, the labor leaders at U simply fought for the people they represent and the contracts governing their employment. Time after time, they have given management the tools that were requested and then found themselves betrayed by people who do not honor their word, or their contracts. Your cheap shots at "labor" and some individual labor leaders is not warranted nor supported by the facts.

There are individuals on here that I will never meet that I have the utmost respect for and appreciate more than they will ever know. The type of people that are willing to stand on the front lines and demonstrate leadership, taking cheap shots and personal attacks from many, standing up for the dignity of working men and women, defending them from those that would exploit them. These leaders make a huge personal sacrifice to stand up for what they believe in, and have never wavered in their commitment to do what is right. To paint these folks with such a broad brush and insult them is so beneath the respect they deserve, I find it difficult to believe you are serious.

If you are a legitimate poster, I seriously believe you need to reflect on your obsession with U. It just ain't healthy.

Flame away.

PS: I found it ironic and quite revealing in a previous post of yours on manners and politeness, you had to lead it off with blasphemy. I for one wish you would refrain from further blasphemy in your posts, as I find it offensive and it negates any good points which you may have had to offer.

Bronner is only acting as a mediator to try to get the unions to the table, he told ALPA and the AFA that.

I would guess the word "table" is a reference to the"Last Supper"?

I think the real question here is:

Are ALPA and AFA (and others--have others been invited to the party?) invited as dinner guests or the main course?

Given the track record, the answer should be pretty obvious.

Thank You Dill:

Bob lost it completely on me today. He is confused, some days he loves me, some days he hates me. Funny thing, I couldn't care less which one it is, I just don't care.

I absolutely agree with your assessment that something is amiss when ones puts so much energy in a company they don't even work at. He puts in more effort about the U employees than most U employees do.

Anyway, thanks again for your insightful post.

Oh c'mon, cut Bob some slack. The rest of us just need to become activist consumers like he is. Every time an empolyee of USAirways, or any other company for that matter, uses a Xerox copier, Xerox should credit that user with "frequent copier" points to be used towards free paper, ink, toner etc. If a mechanic changes a tire on an airplane, they should receive "frequent retreader" points from Goodyear good for a free set of tires for their pesonal vehicle. With some imagination, employees throughout the country can come up with programs to earn points for using products and services that are purchased by their employer. Res agents-free IBM computer equipment. Flight Attendants-free dinners at Wolfgang Pucks. Pilots- free aircraft from Boeing and Airbus. Heck, since the whole company uses them to produce revenue, this should really apply to everyone. Why, if one carried Bob's vision far enough, it would become a quasi-socialist system with everyone working for free, and all of their needs provided for by the corporate structure. Perhaps a letter writing campaign to Xerox would get it done. If they refuse, start a "dung beetle" club and get USA Today to run an article to show how unfair it is that your company uses Xerox products and the employees get nothing for it.
