KCFlyer,
Are you an Employee of AA, and if so, in what job title?

Anyone is entitled to post on any thread but it is most useful to know what someone does for a living when seeking to fully understand their message.

Nope - not an employee of AA...just an outsider who really doesn''t want to see AA go chapter 7.   Charlie Bryan said "I can work with Frank Lorenzo", because his feelings toward Borman were perhaps slightly better than most of y''alls feelings toward Carty. Bryan got what he wanted - Borman left.  But what he got in return was far worse than he expected.

As I said, Crandall was one of the best CEO''s the airlne industry has ever seen.  But you guys seem to forget your feelings about him during the b-scale days.  You seem to forget your feelings about him during many other contract negotiations...and those were during the GOOD days..

But now, he''s the guy to save the day...if for no other reason than to get that bastard Carty out of the office.  Does this mean that when he comes in and says that Carty didn''t ask for enough, you''ll gladly give it up for him?  Does it mean that you''ll gladly overlook the fact that he didn''t take the job for a dollar a year?   Does it mean that you''ll feel that he''s entitled to the golden parachute that will undoubtedly be a part of any employement contract?

What do I do for a living - I work for the government.  The pay''s not as great as it could be, but I can assure you that the top guy in my area doesn''t get a multimillion dollar pension.  If you guys are concerned about how much your CEO makes, my "CEO" makes about $400K a year, although his housing and transportation costs are paid for.

KCF,
I swear on the "good book" , that if you keep using that "red neck" expression "Y''ALL''s", I''ll be forced to send you a "virus"!!!

Boomer;
I don''t know if a "thumbs up" from me,for KCFlyer means anything, but I can tell you, that he(as a non employee) is as knowledgeable as any other non-employee, on these boards !!!!

I have found his concern for the welfare of AA is to be Genuine !!

He''s a WN guy,but AA is his favorite GLOBAL airline !!

AND he didn't use it correctly! The plural possesive of the term "Y'all" (which is a contraction of the formal "you all" after all) is "All Y'all"....

Bob Crandall was no fan of More Room Throughout Coach. Neither am I. I say bring him back!

If the flight is sold out with bottom-fare tickets, those few seats are not going to make the revenue stream any better, and will just make your passengers less comfortable.

MRTC is not the problem. It''s still the economy, any way you slice it.

And didn''t Crandall hand-pick and mold Arpey? Would those of you calling for Carty''s head on a platter be happy if Arpey stepped in instead?

Sold-out flights is when you really need those seats.

MRTC was supposed to bring in a revenue premium. With the loss of full-fare coach business travel, that revenue premium is gone. Time to add the seats back and make money!

You''re like what, 6'' 8" - 6'' 10"?? What if the MRTC seat pitch were 38-40 inches? Would that make you a convert??

At some point you have to admit that added room is nice (don''t you?).

Since we cant seem to fill the seats we have. There would little reason to add more.

NHBB - being a child of the Southland, "Y''all" is music to my ears. "Youse guys" is like fingernails on a chalkboard. I do stand corrected in my earlier post, though...what I meant to say was "most all y''all".

NH/BB,

Just for the record, it's SISTAH Coop.

Coop is the inevitible nickname from my last name. I decided to quit fighting it.

It's pretty appropriate given that I flew the coop a LONG time ago

p.s. Thanks to Boston, I added "wicked" to my vocabulary!

BC had his hey day in the late 70''s and 80''s. He sheepishly sat by and watched the record expansion of the nineties pass AA. He was so traumatized by the first gulf war and the cutting of entire hubs that he never recovered his aggressive business nature. Carty tried to catch up with the other mainline carriers but alas it was too late to "grow" and he opted to purchase TWA to make up for the lost opportunies ala C''s legacy.
