By GOD, love him or hate him, you gotta love (uncle) Bobby Crandall.

Thursday, in front of the US Senate committee, confirmation hearing, for NONE OTHER THAN HIMSELF(to Amtrak's board), Crandall lectures the senate, by telling them, what every intelligent person on the planet, already knows.

"That AMTRAK should be subsidized, " "Will NEVER make money", "That as a country, we can afford it", AND "get use to it" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Talk about a "SACK" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He definitely was a SOB, but he was OUR SOB !!!

"ARPEY, and the rest of you SH*T HEADS at centerport, TAKE NOTICE".

NH/BB's

ps,
I can just see it now. (Casey Jones) CRANDALL, climbs up the ladder, into the ACELA EXPRESS locomotive, and tells the engineer to go faster !!!!!!!!!!!

And to do it with less fuel, and NO healthcare benefits!

Amtrak crashes a lot. They do need some help.
The fact is that transportation is an essential service.

They admit that AMTRACK will never make money but thats OK, but then demand that Airline workers must take paycuts because the airlines must make money.

Even the Unions that claim to represent the airlines are in on this double standard. Sonny Hall, the head of the TTD (part of the AFL-CIO) complained about the subsidies that the airlines were getting compared to AMTRACK. The TTD, Transportation Trades Division inludes unions that represent workers in the transportation industry such as the TWU, IAM, IBT and CWA for example.

Thats one example of why airline workers should be in airline unions. Conflicts of interests.

The fact is that all of us who work in this industry got taken for a ride. If we had stood together the government would have been forced to bail out the industry. They could not have allowed UAL, AA and USAIR to all cease operations. It would have had a huge effect on the economy.

Did the TTD cut a backroom deal to sellout airline workers in exchange for AMTRACK funding?
