It's called the "bum's rush." They spring the contract on you at the last minute so no one can examine it in detail and digest the true implications. This is classic union busting 101. Carty did the exact same thing to the APA pilots union. After 9 month of asking Carty what needed to be done, he and his execs come up with the super-emergency "sign this now or we'll declare bankruptsy tomorrow" gig.
