Vacation Buy Back for December

Good employee, bad employee, unemployed people who'd want your job, bad work ethic.......it's all up to the individual. Do I believe in my heart of hearts that you should do your job? YEP...sure do. I also believe that the COMPANY has an obligation to run a business while at the same time keeping the peace with the natives. They don't CARE what employees think. As stated your a number plain and simple. A person calling off for the holiday while not a great work ethic in some eyes all leads back to the company you work for and in this case USAirways. THEY CAUSE IT! ! ! If you want a smooth operation over a major holiday then you pay the PREMIUM to operate your g'damn company on that holiday. It's done just about EVERYWHERE but at airlines and namely USAirways. I hope the whole airline calls off. Couldn't care any less. Ok back to CSI on spike. Chat later. ;)

Lucky for you that you work for an airline that has a union and a collective bargaining agreement otherwise you would be terminated. What does it matter if you are a good flight attendant with many letters to prove it you obviously are not a dependable employee so why would they want to keep you? Airlines need dependable employees, the fact that you are working under the contract you are is YOUR choice and not a reason to screw your passengers, fellow employees or your employer. Yes I know we all voted NO but funny, we are all still here.

Trust me I have a big life outside of this job, when I walk off the plane I do not think about US Airways again until my next trip. I have made adjustments over the past 20 years with my family, Thanksgiving is about being together does it matter if its Nov 27 or Nov 26? No it really doesn't. Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Christ and celebrating with your family, can we open gifts and celebrate on the 22nd and have a wonderful Christmas yes we can, can we celebrate it on the 26th and have an awesome celebration of course we can. My children have many memories of our holidays and many pictures to prove it. Do they all say Dec. 25th in corner, no but does that make it any less special to them NO it doesn't. Yes I have worked 20 holidays, but I still managed to have 20 awesome holiday seasons with my family as well. My family and I have made adjustments to my job because this job has afforded us luxuries that a normal job would not. What I have taught my children is you have a responsiblity as an adult and there are times that you have to adjust your life to fulfill those responsiblities. You on the other hand are teaching your children to blow off your responsiblities to your employer who is putting that food on your table and lie that you are sick because you are disgusted with the current contract that you agreed to work under.

As I stated I will have to work this year again, will we still have an awesome holiday as a family you bet your sweet arse we will and I won't be calling in sick to make that happen. HAPPY HOLIDAYS.


Well, I don't talk to my children about work, and negativity stays far away from my home. It is great you are able to have your holiday on a different day and celebrate. I have a really large and geographically scattered family, so holidays is the chance to see them, and that I won't miss.. I am not screwing anyone, pax or employees, Everyone else has the same right to do what i do, but choose not to, call it morals or being a good employee if you want, I just call it plain stupidity, but thats for me and its my opinion, so continue to work holidays for minimal pay and please the company so they can continue to treat you the way you are being treated, thats all good by me. I am sooooo not rearranging my families life so I can go to work at a company that treats their employees like dirt, just so I can say it is moral and ethical, please. If you did not have a contract you would be terminated as well, even though you did work the holidays. During the last BK, US would have canned you all and hired new hires for less wages guaranteed, no doubt about it, no matter how many holidays or perfect you were. Happy Holidays!!!
 
What a crock. You think you are more important than anyone else. That your family ranks above anyone else's. You screw the person JR to you who has to do your job because you are off celebrating. Meanwhile they are doing what you were hired to do. Its sad to see people with such a lack of compassion and a non existent work ethic. Its almost funny to read the ridiculous explanations for not doing the job they were hired to do.

Very well said! That is exactly why vacation fly back was offered...too many have vacation in December and the sick calls that are bound to come. People should be happy to have a job and if they are that miserable about it, they should quit. There are probably plenty of people out there who would give anything to work...even on the holidays!!!
I love newbie posts that stick up for things like this. No to apparent that someone in a cube in the sandcastle is writing this.

I never said my family was more important than anyone elses. The person junior to me has the same rights as i do, we work under the same contract. I have no use for working on Holidays, so i dont. EVERYONE else has the SAME rights. You just CHOOSE to work and I DO NOT!! I have different priorities and those are my family first.

Ok are we all aware of scheduling calling b/h's letting them know they no longer have their E190 block due to the selling of the 10 a/c? Yep and they are ALSO being told by scheduling that they are NOT pay protected and that they WILL be responsible for the lost time. Meanwhile ALL that time is being outsourced and being flown by Republic. I bet the union's phone is ringing off the hook The switchboard is probably glowing red. It's actions like THIS that make people throw in the towel and not give a crap about calling off holidays and possibly screwing their "junior" counterpart. WHATEVER. With vacation flyback now for December how in HELL does the company think the flight attendants will make up that lost E190 time? Is ANYONE running this joint? What a bunch of morons. And to THINK in another thread I was told TRAVELPRO72 was laughed at by management. Again, look in the mirror monkeys. What a bunch of morons. I hope the whole G'damn airlines calls off for Turkey day and Christmas. PATHETIC! ! ! !
 
:shock: Do what? :huh: Where in the heck in the contract did they think that was acceptable this late in the DEC bidding process? I mean this is a prime example of "contractual rights and protections" being disregarded. Yet, lets give them the means to disregard our language minus the FAR's and front end. :down:
I hope AFA is beating them over the head with section 1-1 SCOPE. What a blatant violation. I would have laughed in scheduling's ear like a hyena.
They are purposely poking people with a sharp stick right before the holidays. How in great heavens do they think people will "make up" this time? You offered VAC buyback fools! The time will be like trying to find a unicorn! I am just amazed at the stupidity. :rolleyes:

Exactly, but there are some people who will re-arrange their lives and keep getting burned just for the sake of it.. This is why the company keeps doing it, people are willing to get treated like crap and still put up with it. Buybacks and then this, yeah right!!
 
The COMPANY is completely responsible for the relations we have with the management here. The tone is set from the top down....not the bottom up. They take the "tough as nails" and "nothing personal" approach and this is what you get. We're bound by contracts that are BK driven and the west hasn't had one for years. Only the company can create a better relationship with their flight attendants. Anyhow this whole deal about the b/h's losing their time due to the 190's going is as Beachboy stated, "a blatant violation". Thanks management.....hugs and kisses ya bunch of :censored:

Get your doctors note and have a wonderful holiday, that is what i would recommend everyone do on Christmas and all other major holidays..
If you dont' want to work on holidays, why are you in the airline busines????
 
Employees agreed to work holidays among many other things when accepting employment. Management at the same time has renigged on MANY an item. Hmmmm seems a bit one sided. One doesn't make the other any better but people are po'd.

Get your doctors note and have a wonderful holiday, that is what i would recommend everyone do on Christmas and all other major holidays..
Yeah that's a great solution. Selfishly think of yourself. Dont' worry about other reserves that have to be called in your place. Don't worry about others that might have to be junior assigned. Don't worry about the crew schedulers that get bitched at, just for doing their job, when having to junior assign. Don't worry about the passengers.
