US Airways threatening to strike - should we support them?

The twu support a strike at USair? This is a "union" that told their members at local 100 to cross their own picket line! Should the twu support a USair strike,.... I am laughing so hard I have tears in my eyes.

Until the nmb releases the iam I doubt there would be a strike. Iam 141 goes in next week for anthr round of talks w the donkeys in phx

Sould we support them (IAM) is the Question? The members of the TWU here at AA wouldn't even support a job action or self help here at AA. Just ask the guy's at your station if the would give up thier O/T for a week? The answer would be not only no but HELL NO.

The IGM attitude here at AA has been festering here so long this place is no longer a union shop its more of a company support union.

I have a boat payment or I have kids in school or you can't tell me not to work O/T I will call H/R are just some of the statements made by TWU members when it was to show support for the union/our contract..

There has been so much scamming by the TWU Intl. Oficers and others in the TWU that most don't respect the TWU. So to ask them to support another company or another union IMO it won't happen as sad as that is to say.

Unions in the airline industry have taken it in the shorts for so long there is NO fight in them. The government supports the company and I don't know any union that would stay out on strike if allowed any more or use self help and stay on the job causing havok as some have put it, willing to pay the company for any lost revenue the courts will impose on the union.

But should we support them "YES" but it won't do any good.

Unfortunately I didn't read where they are threatening to strike. Would have loved to see something a little stronger like that out of the IAM. I read where the reporter wrote that if they were released they could strike, in any event I say YES if they did strike we should support them and honor their picket lines. The RLA gives us that right. That means not only not working USAIR aircraft but not working AA aircraft either. Let them all sit. Lets face it, we have a morally illegitimate contract anyway, put in place by people who are no longer here, from the YES voters who took the early out or were laid off to the AA management puppets that were running the TWU who helped sucker those people into voting YES, with the help of an even more corrupt government that would allow a company with $5 billion to feign Bankruptcy, keep their orders for 500 new airplanes and screw over their employees, then on top of that let them merge and form the largest carrier in the world. This is a mega corporation thats going to screw over the flying public next.

The majority of us voted against this contract but the only halfway decent thing in it is the mid term wage adjustment, and the current low USAIR rates bring down the average, the bigger raise they get the bigger raise we get, so honoring their picket line puts more money in our pockets as well. Tell that to the guys who don't want to give up OT for a day, standing up for USAIR and helping them get a good deal will put more money in their pockets because right now the low USAIR rates will drag down the Mid Term wage adjustment, so they are fighting for themselves.

Why Bob, ain't it a little late to be talking a job action? Like "closing the barn door after bessie has run off" I'd say!------ it just ain't gona happen!

The IAM asked to be released back in June, the raid put everything on hold, met twice with the mediator and company with no progress. The board is holding up the release.

The raid?

Would that be the raid that was solicited by the TWU and the IAM?

The corrupt get even more corrupt.

What are you talking about?

The ibt raided the IAM at US, there was an election and the IAM won, the IAM had nothing to do with the ibt at AA

We should support the USair mechs in any way we can, after all they are fighting for our raise, since the TWU can't negotiate a raise they had to leach onto some other unions accomplishment.

And what is the IAM doing about the holdup? Is the NMB saying that there is no impasse? If not then what is their reason for No release? Or is the IAM simply OK with saying they want to be released and doing nothing to make it happen? We had that with Videtich.

The nmb has to make the decision to release the iam... 141 goes this up coming week to negog w the donkeys and a federal mediator we shall see what happens. The talks last week w the 142 did not go well. I dont believe the iam is happy that they still have not been released but its up to the nmb
