US Airways pilots ‘ready to resume talks’
WASHINGTON, Sept 11 (Reuters)

US Airways and its pilots union said on Saturday that they were willing to resume talks over a $295 million package of concessions, as time ran short for the company to strike giveback deals with its labor groups and avert another trip into bankruptcy.

See Story

There are no talks scheduled between the comapny and ALPA. NC committee chairman Doug Mowrey left to fly a 3-day trip yesterday and NC members Ted Schott and Jack Greenhall are off for the weekend.

These men should be trying to save something, but they have no idea what to do next. Friday the RC4 roll called a resolution to reduce ALPA's previous 20.25% wage cut proposal to 16.25% and reduce the previous proposal to lower the DC Plan cuts from 40% to 10%.

The RC4 and the NC do know know what to do next and are stuck like "deer in the headlights" while Rome is burning.

USA320Pilot, actually it is you who does not know what to do next. The thing is going to play out in court regardless of what is negotiated. Like PITbull said, it's not labor's fault.

Resign would be a good idea, they have failed BIGTIME, as have the RC4 in making good on any promise. They told the angry emotional pilots what they wanted to hear, now of course, there is NO WAY they will even come close to making good on any of them....

So now they blame the company as we enter Ch11 with no agreement, a result of them being cowards

You're right, the RC4 are cowards because they will not make difficult choices.

I think the RC4 have made a difficult choice. That choice being that a USAirways pilot is worth a certain amount and they will not agree to work for less than that. The problems at U are independent of the costs of their labor. Mark my words folks. If we all agree to these cuts, they will be back for more. USA320pilot, didn't I tell you that last time? When will you listen to me.

And you criticize others for making insults, but I guess it is ok when you do it?

Bruce Lakefield and David Bronner are not calling the shots. The shots are being called by the ATSB and the creditors who could care less what a pilot, F/A, mecahnic, dispatcher, FSA, RSA, Accountant or CSA make.

They require a profitable company or they will take their toys and go home leaving the employees holding the bag.

There IS an agreement. And if the judge decides to ammend the current agreement, then his amendments only last until the bankruptcy is over. If a new agreement is reached before bankruptcy, then the new agreement is in effect after emergence from bankruptcy.

You just don't get it. The company asked for 295 million, and ALPA offered 305 million. Company said NO and countered with 340 million.

The company doesn't want a deal. USAirways debt is too huge to ever recover, even if the employees worked for free. The only way out is to go bankrupt, give back most of the leased mainline planes, and then finish getting the RatJets that will make USAir the new Comair/Mesa.

It is over. The robbers have already plundered the wealth of the house and burned it to the ground. People are bickering about who gets to keep the chared carpet and the broken toilet bowl... and pointing fingers at each other. Gee whiz!
