Update on Flight 718/June 16, 2011 (PHL‐FCO)

It looks like she would've disintegrated on cross examination. And that wouldn't look so good for anyone involved.

A lawyer who showed mercy. Who'da thunk?

No need for cross examination by the lawyer, or by you for that matter. Time is awaisting. Throw her in the water. We all want to know if she floats. Or better yet weigh her in the balance with a duck.

Not this East pilot and many more like me. This is not a USAPA thing. This is a Captains right to question the validity of an MEL or maintenance sign off. Had it been a West pilot, we should all rally around him/her the same way. How would you like being forced by injunction to fly an airplane with an MEL on it even though it goes against your best judgement? That is what is in the complaint. The company wants to cram a "legal" airplane down your throat and force you to fly it or be in violation of an injunction. Read it, it's in there, and it's a slippery slope.

Are you so full of hatred that you can't see the big picture here?? This is bigger than an East/West thing.

Wake up!!!!

You are correct Driver. And as much as the West wants the injunction, judges are very hesitant ti give them. Intruding in safety is a dangerous proposal. You will see the company and Aqua get denied. The company is getting out of hand with this issue. I am sure the Nat l press will pick this issue up shortly.

Thanks for the testimony. So it appears the alleged PA hysteria was merely a PA on the plane to inform the passengers that they were not being detained against their will to stay on a hot plane, after trying to get the air replaced, after the APU was turned off by maintenance on a gate that does not provide air hoses long enough to service an A330. And after repeated attempts to get the gate agents to make the announcement to allow passengers off while the delay continued, which lasted another six or seven hours.

The West should form a mob to throw her in the water to see if she floats, the company's neglect of cross examination notwithstanding.

The one thing I had wrong was when the APU Auto-shutdown. I related in an earlier post that it happened after pushback and prior to engine start. According to her testimony, it happened at the gate prior to push. I made a mistake.

Anyone else want to man up?

What about the lies you made up about her and rantings? Her testimony was concise and accurate. This issue is fraught with trouble for the company as to how they deal with maintenance issues and pilots.

Perhaps he did not invent the lie about the PA hysteria. Is he that quick? But it seems there were plenty of gullible, hopeful people looking for something juicy to cast abroad.

Have you read the entire transcript? "company's neglect" to cross. This judge was not happy that it took 2 days to hear this PI. So it was actually a smart move by the company not to cross. First her testimony had NOTHING to do with an alleged illegal job action. Scond by not crossing it told the judge this was a waste of time in addition to the other waste of time by the other union witness. It told the judge that her testimony did nothing for the union case.

Don't forget this case is about the overall action by the group and usapa, not an individual. Read closely, the union lawyer is crying to the judge that the company is not crossing his witness. The judge's reaction, the company has a strategy and they don't have to tell the judge. Not crossing was more powerful and telling than wasting time refuting her story of the whiner and his fatique calls.

Really. And just why is that? This happened in June. usapa wasted a bunch of money on a national ad but nobody picked it up. There was a hearing and nobody picked it up. We are now 2 months past the incident and no one has picked it up. When are you guys going to realize that the rest of the world does not believe your cries of outrage?

Any reporter that might pick up this story would look foolish. The FAA has determined that there was nothing wrong with the plane. An outside vendor and the manufacture has said nothing wrong with the plane. The company has collect a bunch of safety awards.

What do east pilots have? An opinion poll that you think the airline is unsafe because you don't have a new contract. Other than Ted Reed the pet usapa reporter no one has touched this story. BTW where are the outraged stories from the pet reporter Reed?

The national press has you guys figured out. You blew your shot with the fuel school. Now usapa is just the boy that cried Wolfe.

BUFFALO, AIR FRANCE, TURKISH, I guess those AZ reporters are like the AWA pilots. http://www.azcentral.com/business/articles/2011/09/01/20110901ap-impact-automation-air-dulls-pilot-skill.html

Do you have a point here or do you just like to see your name in print? Your boy said that the NATIONAL press was going to pick this story up about the captain. Second do you east guys have different training than us west pilots?

So would you old east pilots not have the same issue as the rest of the industry? Also try reading the location. It is from Washington by an AP reporter not an AZ reporter. Did you intend to look foolish or are you just that clueless?

When the company loses their quest for injunctive relief there is going to be another interesting round of press on this one. I can't understand why a company with such a weak case would even go here. It does nothing but give the customers a bad feeling about traveling on us. There is no way this judge is going to get between these two groups. Too dangerous seeing what they asked him to do and the extremely weak case. I say USAPA wins hands down because Aqua says otherwise and he has been wrong on every issue starting with Addington and the 9th.

I guess things that come out of WASHINGTON aren't NATIONAL, ( Clear, don't tell Obama) BTW, those accidents happened way in the past and now are brought to light, look your clueless self in the mirror!

Obviously they are, but you miss the point - an eastie said that the national press was going to pick up the story about the flight 718 incident and it wasn't mentioned in the NATIONAL piece you linked to.

BTW, those accidents happened way in the past and now are brought to light

"Way past"??? The three crashes specifically mentioned happened in 2009 - after dinosaurs were extinct BTW. Given the fact that investigations usually take a year or longer, that's recent. Especially for the AF crash. It took something like 6-12 months just to recover the recorders given the location of the crash. Heck, that investigation still isn't complete.

Wasn't it USAPA's lawyers asking her the questions? Would you expect him to ask, "Did you go off like a Roman candle when you felt your improper decision might be overruled and you would be made to look foolish?"? Many hours of this incident were unaccounted for, including the time that she was ranting on the PA.

She only answered the softball questions USAPA wanted brought up.

Like you said many hours of the incident were unaccounted for, so why are you & others from the West so quick to crucify her ?

Just ask them about their short field takeoff in Kona, would have loved to see a 75 make those rooster tails on the water.
