UAL takes advertising aim at Southwest

Here is a history lesson for you piney. Jepp was a UA Capt that revolutionized the industry. Jepp was drawing charts when Herb was still a wet spot.
Betcha a dollar to a donut that he wasn't as self important as you are. Jepp - UAL of yesterday. Mags - UAL of today. I know that no one person can represent an entire group, but I wonder how many UAL pilots cringe when they read your posts.
He is pi$$ed that the deck was stacked against us and is determined to beat the crap out of those that did us harm. I am with him and will do whatever it takes to beat the competition that tried to hurt us.
Does that include opening your wallet when he finds that undercutting the low cost carriers isn't a great strategy. Lots of market share. But market share doesn't equal profits.

When can we expect Tilton to beat the crap out of you - you're doing a bit of harm to UAL all by yourself.

What does this have to do with ANYTHING other than your envy?

Here is a history lesson for you. Henry Ford was an innovator that essentially spawned the industrial age. Henry Ford is dead and Ford is in pretty bad shape...so in other words...Henry Ford means nothing to this topic and nothing to Ford right now. But you can maybe still draw a conclusion of Henry Ford-Ford and Jeppeson-UAL??

Was that just to spout off that you happened to know somebody that was instrumental to your profession? I would hope that most that are serious about their careers could spout off something about an innovator in their field.

The agruement piney made was that UA had not contributed to the industry. UAL has been instrumental in many safety matters over the years. I could name more but Jepp is very well known and a good rep. of our group.

This is seriously getting humorous to watch.

Now Piney, we are all glad to know that your company is number 1 in copier sales. Do you think they have a forum like this??? USCopiersales???? I'd love to join that forum and pipe in on all that I think I know about copiers.

The thing is fly, if copiers were a "glamor" business (enough to warrant a dedicated message board), would the only ones "qualified" to post to it be employees of copier companies, or might the customers be credited with at least some knowledge? Magsau is pompous, arrogant, and a very poor representative of UAL. Quite the opposite of you. He might be the best autopilot switch flipper sitting in the left seat of a 767, but judging from his posts here, I would actually be afraid to fly on a UAL jet.

BTW, in reading the history of Jeppesen, I believe I saw where he quit UAL and devoted his energies into HIS (not UAL's) chart company.

...not to mention borderline mentally unbalanced! Think I'll start calling him "Captain Batootie" (sp?)

Re: Jeppeson--you are correct.

Did he have a chart of MDW when you guys came up a bit short there a few years back?

Totally off topic, but since the exciting, glamourous copier business was mentioned, I can recommend as a good book "Copies in Seconds" about Chester Carlson, the man who invented the copier process and the early days of Xerox, (or Haloid, before it was renamed Xerox). It's really a rather interesting story. Consider it for in-flight entertainment.

Now back to the subject at hand, more or less, I read that United's post-bankruptcy business plan is based on oil costing no more than $50 a barrel. That's a problem if the price stays well north of there and likely means UA management coming back for more labor concessions.

A few years? SWA was not even in business when that accident occured. Now you want to talk about current charts? What were your guys using in BUR and MDW? Cartoons? Were they naked when they overran the runways? Were they telling some lame story on the PA as they wandered through the fences?

Mags, please shut up. You used to seem normal, now you seem pathetic. It's bad enough to listen to the constant United bashing but you are like the newspaper used to stoke the fire.

Glad you enjoyed your flights. At this point, US/UA are still partners so this is a win/win for all of us. As for TED flights, heard they are adding a fresh, healthy meal to the choices (better sit near the front or middle because they won't last long and that's where the f/a's start)

Next time you fly international out of IAD, PM me.....I'll set you up (if I can)

Actually, they were.

And, does it matter? LUV has had less fatal accidents than UA has. In fact, LUV's fatal accident total is less than the subset of fatal accidents that UA has had where pilot error was the cause.

You should have a little more humility. It can happen to anyone. Want to talk about DTW in '82 where the seat switcharoo and the apparent inability to run a checklist bit UA in the butt?
