The twu should have never handled the equity distribution. They should have the company do it. The twu saw a opportunity to make money on this deal. First 5% now 10%. Crying about being a target of a lawsuit is no excuse for scanning the membership.
 
The airline makes the actual distribution and the process was created and handled by an outside company. The TWU received the formula and the Equity Committee approved it to go forward.

The UNION should have kept out of it and let the company or someone that knows what the hell their doing. Now we have to pay for the TWU's mistakes. Another screwup the members have to pay for. This is pathetic.

We the members asked a simply question, Please give us the parameters behind our first and second equity distributions for clarity and transparency? Now, look what has developed since then. The TWU leaders first tried to castigate us, then they called us names and tried to call us out.  Now they have put together a website with the same old hypothetical information and formulas which don't tell us exactly how we received our first and second distributions.  Furthermore, they now have informed us that they plan to not respond to our appeals until July 14, 2014.  This is the type of nonsense that we wanted to avoid.  We were all afraid of this happening.  Well, guest what, they now plan to extract another 5% in reserves from our precious small equity distribution that we were to receive. The question is, For what? The answer, to correct more of their misguided mistakes.  They should fight the pending retiree case with the big slush fund of money that they receive from us each and every week.  It's called dues.  How much more will the TWU cost us? This has been torture for the pass 15 years, it's more that you and I can bare.  TWU, we implore you, DO NOT DO THIS. Please stop this madness.
 
They just keep taking our money and giving more concessions. Time to get the hell out of this union.
 
Sign a DAMM card and lets move on, PLEASE!

So in your defense of the TWU, you feel it is OK to withhold another 5% to fight and/or settle with the former employees. Keeping in mind they withheld 5% just for this purpose as stated in the Power Point Presentation...You see no obligation for the TWU to fight this battle with dues that we have paid in already, but instead use extra monies we were supposed to collect for our BK concessions.
 
So I would also assume that in your TWU mind, there is no cap as to how many shares the TWU can keep taking if the need it to continue this battle.
 
By the way, I haven't heard a word from Bob Owens on this mess...maybe he has been muzzled? Or maybe just the nasty flu that's going around.

This additional 5% for reserves will hopefully wake everyone up and FINALLY realize it's time for a change. How much more can we afford being stuck with the TWU? Its not us even fighting the company....we are fighting our union! They work for us, and failed us for years.... it's time to fire them!
They refuse to disclose and answer a simple question. They say they are being transparent. If so...then give us the info we've been asking for! They say we are campaigning against them, well they got that right.... WE ARE!

To think if they would have been up front with it's membership, full disclosure and have transparency with the distribution all this would/could have been avoided.

The 10% number came from the class action lawsuit filed against the Equity Distribution. The plaintiffs feel 5% is not enough to make them whole. If they win the lawsuit, as unlikely as it seems, most of that 10% will go to fellow Members and not the TWU.
 
Now, if they lose the lawsuit and they actually don't distribute most of the 10%, then you got yourself a smoking gun. Right now, you can't even light a match.

They did. The airline distributes the shares. ComputerShare holds the shares. The Labor Bureau prepared and administered the formula used and the lawyers made the suggestions implemented by the Equity Committee...You got your wish 1AA. 
 
On the other hand, it crimps on your argument that the TWU is taking your money because if they don't administer it means they pay someone else to do it and that contributes towards the 5% reserve.

And let's not forget about the grievance being paid to members from other members equity!
