TWU Sick Leave

That's wrong. The 2010 TA had full pay SK pay in it. We voted no so the committee would get us more or take us on strike and then get us more.
Yes but then King Don and the International decided to punish us by stalling till the company filed for Bankruptcy two years later. When have we even seen workers reject a contract and then agree to talk for two more years without asking to be released?

And the BK result was so much better?

No one lost retiree medical this was a lie spread by many misinformed officers in their cheesy videos. Those 50 and over would have continued with their existing funding option, those under 50 would have paid for retiree medical with a new higher cap SK bank, and those from 45 up to 50 would have had a more SK time added based on a formula. Now you have nothing under the new and improved BK CBA.

Still spouting those same old lies about the retiree medical I see. Nobody believed you then, nobody believes you now either. If we had voted the deal in then half would have lost it in BK and half would have already lost it prior to BK and the difference would have been made up with other concessions.

Boston, you need to knock a little sense into your man. If he becomes disabled AA wont want to know him. Tell him to get himself fixed, even if he doesn't have the sick time. In the end all they will give him for his banked time is $25/day, vs $250 if he uses it.

The 2010 TA offered full SK pay but it also offered a one time lump sum $3000 in lieu of a raise for us overhaul mechanics.  For this we were expected to give up our retiree medical.  Sorry but retiree medical was worth much more than $3000 to me.
Yes IRRC those under 50 would have lost both the match and their contributions. The match was simply gone and our contributions would have been used to buy "sick bank credits". Credits that could not be used for sick time or even go towards the $25/day payout at the end but only for buying retiree medical from the company. For me thats a $15,000 cash concession right there, not including what I would have to pay for retiree medical on top of that.

So we voted down the cost neutral CBA for a cost reduction CBA forced on us in BK. Voting no didn't really improve things did it?

Was AA going to file BK if we settled in 2010? BK, unless the economy improved significantly, was probably inevitable after most of our peers filed BK.

Hey maybe we should have rolled the dice in BK court back in 2003 and got that killer deal UA got right?
Yeah I'm over 50 so I got mine right?  If you think the over 50 guys would have kept the prefunding after the BK you are mistaken.  AA looked to get a few things for free in 2010 and then get the rest when they filed BK.  Also voting no got us a little better deal on medical premiums and if we had voted no again we would have done even better.  The pilots voted no twice and got a much better deal.  You keep trying to sell this piece of crap.  It was voted down by the membership.  The TWU officially said they were taking a neutral stance while they pushed the deal and tried to scare people into voting yes.  Surprisingly it didn't pass.  In Tulsa the news media interviewed Rick Mullings (who was working for the international and didn't have to worry about concessions) and he looked shocked that it failed.  I believe his words were "Ah..... We were hoping it would pass."  Then they turned the cameras and microphones on Joe McGill who lamented that he didn't know how he was going to buy video games for his 9 year old son. ( I am not making this up)  This gave those on the outside looking in the idea that we are all idiots.  Our local president called us cavemen for voting no.  And you wonder why everyone on this blog says bad things about you.  Stop trying to defend the corrupt ba$tard$ who sold us out.
