TWU/IAM Association Poll

Are you for or against the proposed TWU/IAM Association?

  • Total voters
    48
It'll be interesting to see how this finally plays out.

After the TWU/ibt -AA quick file shenanigans, and the ibt attempted raid at US, the dissatisfaction in the craft is evident. Add to it, the alliance was formed without membership consent,  and the NMB would need big stones indeed to try and float this absent a membership vote.

If the NMB tries to certify the association without a vote, I'd expect to see legal action taken almost immediately

A law suit would be Frivolous. Every union member has agreed ( whether they realize it or not ) to having the union represent them fairly. A lawsuit would require DFR. If something was negotiated that gave you more than you have when both unions agreed to join an alliance, then enough said.   Its simpler than most realize........ The Union is your Lawyer

A lawsuit would be hardly frivolous and in no way requires a DFR considering the NMB would be the party moved against for ignoring its rules as posted.

Plain and simple, a change in certification without a membership vote, should immediately trigger a legal response.

You guys better take legal action if it is forced thru.  But, I knew some very negative or bad news was coming.  Let's not freak out yet guys, wait for the official ruling...

I'll post it here also....the Q & A for the association....question #5

If anyone supports this getting rammed down our throats without a vote, they they are the same ones who wouldn't care if the TWU international were to ratify a contract without the membership vote simple because the TWU "owns" the contract.

And the TWU and IAM has never lied to you in the past?  Just because they put it in a Q and A does not mean it will happen that way.  Have you forgotten about 1983?  1993?  2003? 2012?

The only thing they will violate is your and everybody else's interpretation of the rules and that doesn't count. The NMB will rule and it will stand.

It's sad this comment is so disliked, it's probably more accurate then anything. Like it or not we are controlled by the TWU international we have no choice.

Just think of the lawsuits against the TWU by the membership has been won by the TWU. The TWU decided to close mech locals, the locals closed, the TWU decided hold on to some equity, equity held. Here's a question, will the TWU decide to close 591?

Maybe the power of the afl-cio is pushing for the alliance and therefore it WILL happen.

Note to the alliance, " I CAN BE BOUGHT" with a great contract!!!!!!

Or maybe just your ridiculous idea that they can simply make it up as they go.

They truth is you have zero, zip, zilch and nada chance of overturning a NMB representation certification.

You're RIGHT!  .... if they follow their rules as published.

If a vote on the alliance is held after a 30 day window allowing for the filing of an intervenor all per Section 19 of the NMB representational manual, I agree, there is  zero, zip, zilch and nada chance of overturning the NMB representation certification
