TWU and Teamsters are mirror images of each other.

Here is the AMFA Constitution and how "BASE" wage is defined in the dues levy

Dues and Assessments
Section 1 – Active Members
A) A per capita tax on all active members shall be due
to the National Treasury before the tenth (10th) of
each month. The amount of per capita tax shall be
two times the base hourly wage of all active
members.

These fools that are advocating Teamsters have no idea what they are pushing and will believe anything the professional appointed snake oil salesmen tell them...

Another word for this is ...... IDIOT

Can amfa or the TWU sign an agreement that they won't raise the dues to 2.5 hours/month in the next 36 months. It takes money to operate a union and fight corporate America on many different fronts.
Maybe if amfa charged 2.5 hours/month they could afford return postage on the election cards that were mailed out recently to AA MXS.

The TWU is a different animal but here is the agreement within the AMFA Consitution.
Sure a dues increase could happen, but NOT WITHOUT you getting a ballot first.

Section 6 – Assessment Approval
No other fees or assessments shall be levied without
approval by secret ballot of the majority of the membership
voting. The amount, reason for, proposed duration
of, and other details for a National Headquarters
Assessment shall be put before the membership in a
secret ballot referendum. Such monies shall be used
only for the purpose as stated on the referendum, and
the members through their Locals will be given a
detailed accounting of its use.

Challenge: Show me anything close to the membership getting a ballot in your Teamsters Constitution...
Hint: Does not exist

Simple math= add the AA MXS and you have almost 30,000 AMTS in the IBT

Simple Math using your numbers the chart would still read
92,000 Total in the Airline Division and 30,000 Mechanic and Related

Again, what is your plan to overcome the majority rule issue?

It really is 3rd Grade Math. You get it so don't bury your head in the sand in anger.

Spreading your crap has been all fun up to now, but we are about to get into the facts before we file any cards with the NMB. You can keep standing over there on the lonely island of doom, or you can join us in causing real change with AMFA.

Your choice.

Here is the facts from the Teamster website. Again, check it for yourself instead of believing anything by TWU MISINFORMATION.
License Pay is not part of the hourly wage rates in the pay charts.

How much will I pay in dues?

Teamsters Union dues are 2.5 times the hourly wage rate per month. For example, if you make $12 an hour, your dues would be $30 per month. However, if you make less than $11 an hour, then your dues rate is 2 times your hourly rate. And if you are a public sector employee, your dues rate is 2.25 times your hourly rate.
Also, some locals may charge initiation fees and these vary by location. Talk to a local union representative for details.

I will get more information on this dues issue and make more nice charts and graphics for you soon.

Meanwhile

What about your plan to address the undeniable minority work group in a majority rule organization?

Something else the Teamster Advocates are not willing to talk about.
Another TWU is not the answer!

Teamsters Approve 25% Dues Hike

Teamster convention delegates approved a 25 percent dues increase-from two hours’ pay per month to 2.5 hours-at a one-day Special Convention April 30 in Las Vegas. Teamster President James Hoffa had argued for the dues hike in order to increase strike benefits, boost organizing, and help local unions, which will receive about half the new money.
Opponents of the Hoffa plan, including the reform caucus Teamsters for a Democratic Union (TDU), objected to the increase on two grounds: lack of a membership vote and lack of accountability on how the $130 million in new money will be spent. Income to the International will nearly double.

Thirteen million dollars is earmarked for organizing, $20 million for the strike fund-and the rest for “other.” It is this “other”-given the incumbents’ track records-that opponents fear will be spent on large and multiple salaries, golf outings, and other official perks.

A small number of reform delegates offered an amendment that would have required membership ratification of the increase. They offered an alternative plan that would have put more money into the strike fund while increasing dues by much less. Both proposals were rejected. The union’s last dues increase proposal, in 1994, was subject to a membership vote-and defeated. Proposed by then-President Ron Carey and backed by TDU, it would have put $63 million into the strike fund.

RIGHT TO VOTE PETITION

TDU organized a vigorous grassroots campaign, with over 40,000 Teamsters signing petitions calling for members’ right to vote. Some officers normally loyal to Hoffa, including those from large locals in Michigan, New York and New Jersey, wrote letters opposing the plan. Activists were outraged that Hoffa had manipulated the convention process to try to avoid political accountability for the dues increase. Elections were held early last year for delegates to the union’s regular 2001 convention. Not one delegate ran in favor of a dues hike and Hoffa himself ran on a “No Dues Increase” platform.

At that 2001 convention, occurring only months before the election for top union officers, the incumbent Hoffa-privy to all the union’s financial data- made no mention of a dues increase. Only weeks after his re-election, he announced plans for the dues hike and the Special Convention.

STAGE-MANAGE

In response to dissension in his own ranks and to grassroots opposition, Hoffa took unprecedented steps to stage-manage and control the convention proceedings. He conducted the vote on the increase by voice vote-allowing officers who had pledged to members to vote no to keep their actual vote secret.

Unlike at previous conventions, Teamster members and the media were excluded from the floor and sequestered in a separate room to watch the proceedings on a closed circuit TV controlled by the union. Inside the convention, cameras were banned, pro and con microphones were eliminated, and the chair ignored many motions made by opposition speakers, including a call for a vote by “division of the house,” which would have forced delegates to make it clear where they stood.

In the weeks since the Special Convention, the Hoffa administration has continued to promote the dues increase, which will hit the paychecks of most Teamster members in July, by emphasizing the importance of increased strike benefits to winning a strong contract at United Parcel Service. In running for re-election, Hoffa called the UPS contract, which expires on July 31, his “number one bargaining priority.”

However, negotiations, which began in late January and are being led by Hoffa himself, have so far made little progress. On May 13, the UPS negotiating committee took the surprise action of calling for an early strike authorization vote in order to increase pressure on the company.

Rice and TWU informer;

Informer you are correct. A while back we all noticed our dues were higher than the 2.0 per hr rate. Rice, you need to look at your most recent check and do the math. Our dues were more than 2.0 base. Nowhere in the teamsters constitution does it say 2.0 base, back then, or 2.5 base now. It always said hourly rate. Although it may not include your lic prem. it does IN FACT include other premiums or longevity and shift premiums with the teamsters. Check your check, as I do know for a fact, it was happening here at SWA with the teamsters. When we brought up this issue with the teamsters, they blew us off, and actually had an emergency meeting to increase the dues to 2.5 hourly rate (not base, rice) we told them if you do this without a membership vote you will be fired. Hence the 2 wk record card drive at SWA to remove them.
Rice, you really need to get more informed about the teamsters. Once again, DO NOT believe what the teamsters tell you, make them prove it, or you guys will be in the same shoes as the UAL/CAL guys. You seem to be the only one on here completely confused or brain washed from the teamsters. Wake up man!!!

BTW: I can find numorous upon numorous articles about teamsters ileagal actions, money laudering and illegal activity from many many years ago to very recent in time. Nothing about AMFA can be found. Nice try Rice-burner...

Here is a bit of fact to chew on.

So few members, most of the Locals can not be supported and have ZERO members. How sad for the AMFA. I almost feel sorry for them.

Yea, having our membership here in SFO split between two locals "for better representation" , or the DEN local going bankrupt are some more bits of ibt fact to chew on.
