Twinkees Dead, Union Charged with Ho-Homicide..

That was arrogant and insensitive. Union members or not they are fathers, mothers, sons and daughters. REAL people who worked for a living. Show them the respect anyone who makes a living working for someone else deserves.

I'm curious what you have against unions? I'm not a giant fan of them in their current construct but dude hatred like you express is unhealthy

Unions had there place and time and "WERE" needed ,if anything, for working conditions alone !
Go to the AA forums and you'll see, Unions today, are no better than the companys they infiltrate !
And why should the unemployed union workers, families receive sympathy from outsiders, when the union workers themselves, knew exactly what was on the line and , apparently didn't mind sacrificing the needs of their family's, just to prove a point !

I've taken pay-cuts in the past and you never know, might in the future, the way this country is headed, but sometimes, maybe it better to bite the bullet, than it is to bite the hand that feeds you !

And btw, someone tell me what a "Living Wage" is, (Unions new warcry), and just who determines how much it is ?

It not so much hatred as ignorance lack of intellectual curiosity.
So if someone doesn't share your point of view, they're ignorant........got it !
How liberal of you !

And as far as your "smug" intellectual curiosity, half of my family, including my father, worked at EAL, all union members and we see how that worked out !

It actually did work out until it became mismanaged. And management became abusive trying to recover from their mistAkes on the backs of labor. All the other airlines were doling out similar pay and benefits.

Yes. The unions dug in but the " largest airline" in the world grew at the wrong time. Old birds, high fuel costs, lorenzo gutting eal and feeding parts to continental. They were too deep in debt. Labor costs were just a small thing. If everyone worked for free, they still would have went under. I feel like I had a front row seat.

Not what I said but I can see how you could interpret it that way.

You can refute whatever you like but, it doesn't change the fact that you chastise my view, on what happened at Hostess, saying I have no sympathy for the families involved, yet you don't place any of the blame on the union workers, going on strike and therefore putting said families at risk !

And I can up the ante with...

No one is putting a gun to your head to work there.

If you know and dislike Wal-Mart, don't fill-out an application. With the baby boomers retiring you might see Wal-Mart's targeted employee. Retirees have their benefits and seek extra income. Now quit ruining my greeter job, aftewr all I'm such a PEOPLE person

PS this is to SH's post!

Yet the executives got theirs and in the end only screwed the workers, only because they were "high paid" and wanted lower paid workers. I don't chastise yours or anyones views, but I do look at things from both sides. A girlfriend once told me not to trust anybody in management, regardless of where I am at.

That's the bottom line. Globalization is our downfall.

Some are faced with Wal-Mart or welfare and it's not an easy decision as once you throw in ALL the possible benefits, it's pretty much a wash dollar wise. So not only does Wal-Mart drive down wages in some ares they actually increase the numbers collecting public assistance.

People have the right to live as they choose. An overwhelming number of Americans shop Wal-Mart daily ad seem to have no issues with the way they conduct business. I am not such a person. Wal-Mart can run their business as they see fit. I don't have a gun pointed at my head forcing me to shop there either, so guess what? I do't. They do have very clea rest rooms so often times I visit merely to crap on them.

Don't confuse him with facts.

And yet at the same time you take those paycuts you'll complain about unions until you are blue in the face. Saying nothing of course about executives taking huge payouts.

Didn't want to bring it up but here but here's a fact straight from an ex EAL mecbanic, in my family. Part of EAL's demise was that the mechanics and ramp were represented by the same union and every time the mechanics got a raise, so did the bag loaders to the point where they were making as much as a licensed mechanic! Not saying that was the sole reason for EAL's demise but there was a lot more.to it than bad management!

Btw, my Grandfather, Father and 3 uncles worked at EAL.......I think I have all the facts I need concerning EAL.........next!

My Uncle was an inspector at EA for 29 years, the ramp did not make the same money as a mechanic.
