Tulsa to do 104 more sets of 757 winglets

...does AA use the abandoned DL hanger in DFW or is it vacant? Just curious.

Do the winglets allow these 757's to cross the Atlantic? I know the TWA ones they're getting rid of could w/o the winglets, but I thought the AA ones didn't have the range? Could be interesting if AA could increase their transat presense via this addition...

...well, hopefully they learn from Delta who picked up the old eastern hanger in ATL and never really needed it...

If only they could spend a little money on the interiors of the 757. They are really starting to look ratty. Duck tape holding First Class seats together. First Class tray tables missing. I flew 2 legs the other day with no running water(they put wetnaps in the lavs and no coffee on a breakfast flight). Winglets are great but a little attention on the interiors would be nice too.

I agree. IIRC, the 757s didn't get the new F seats in the late 1990s (but the 727s and all other planes did) because the 757 F seats already met the new 16g standards. I'd like to think that AA could find a way next year to install at least the used 777 J seats (they're the right width) with 50 inches of pitch and limited recline. That would be 100% more comfortable than the present setup. And with the replacement of the 777 J seats on the horizon, there will be lots of pairs of used J seats.

They might want to get a bigger hangar at DFW. The three side by side 757 B-checks with winglets will result in two without winglets. Not enough room.
<_< ----- Interesting! How much longer is the wing span? We can get the 757s into our narrow body docks on an angle, and close the hanger doors. But with the added wing span, may be not!!! TWA's old hanger at LAX could handle them! TWA used to do 747 "C" checks there. You could get three into the west side, no problem! Although, I have no idea as to the hanger's status these days!
