TLV

Friends of mine were on the flight on July 5. They left the gate about an hour late due to a computer issue. During that time the lights were kept on and they played some video. Water was only given out on request during this time.

They said the 1 interpreter was severely overworked, as there were a lot of young hebrew speaking only passengers. The regular F/A's seemed to get short with the kids wandering the aisles, even during non-service times.

My friends also seemed to think that there was only 1 beverage and food service, and that was the pre-arrival breakfast. While they did sleep for the majority of the flight, they said people were WAY too happy to see food when they came around for that service. Either that or the 1st service was inedible and the snack was not offered as per the service guidelines. They said that breakfast service was pretty inedible.

He was a little disappointed to have to pay for headsets, and didn't try out the new Panasonic system as a result.

Additionally, they said there were a lot of Orthodox pax of different sects on their flight, but there didn't seem to be as many seating "issues" as there are on ElAl flights to/from JFK and EWR.

Two meal services that I know of. Food is very good. No takeoff priority that I know of out of PHL. Don't need it arriving/departing TLV, traffic is very light at the times we operate. Same goes for arrival in PHL.

This is an occupational hazard during the summer and over winter break, with all of the youth groups and temple groups flying to/from TLV.....especially when the groups are not confined to one area of the aircraft.

I would think that it is not as bad on the return flight, given the cumulative lack of sleep, vs. the excitement of a flight to TLV. I seem to recall my flights back from TLV being the only time I actually slept in Y without the aid of a sleeping pill.

As a former "kid wandering through the aisles" on group flights to TLV, I can sympathize with both parties. ;)

797 is nicely timed to depart TLV earlier than the numerous flights to the NYC area and the LAX flight.
